BBC presenter to trek through County Durham on 135-mile Children in Need challenge

BBC Radio 2 presenter, Sara Cox, is taking on a 135-mile walk through County Durham and the North East, to raise money for Children In Need.

My daughter's, born in Wales, first day in High School coincided with our return to Cardiff after 10 years in Kent. She sounded like Lorraine Chase - " The worta in Mayorca" etc innit?
I was bricking myself about bullying as a mate told me his daughter got bullied after moving from Barry to Penarth.
Dropped her off for induction day and said "Anyone asks, say your accent is Cockinese". hoping they'd laugh.
Picked her up at the end of day, driving out of the school and a group of girls waved at her.
I said "Who are they?"
"My friends"
(Worried) " What did they think of your accent?"
"Cool".
Had a drink that night!

Not a bad trek if she completes it. That explains why a lot of the callers this evening were wishing her luck. I was cooking so it didn't really register.
I just love how natural she is and how she puts people at ease when they're on the radio with her, especially little kids.
I might have a bit of a crush.
 
Mrs M off getting her nails done ready for holiday next Saturday, so I volunteered to go along and wait but instead am sat in one of my favourite places. Caffè Nero in Waterstones, Basingstoke with a Flat White, a warm Raspberry croissant reading a book watching the world go by. I am a man of simple pleasurable or is it I’m just a simple man 🤷🏼🤣

A productive morning indeed.
broadband, tv package and both mobiles all with EE/ BT for less than £100 a month.
Pancakes made for the grandkids for brekkie.
6x potato cakes made for me dad.
But the best bit. When the Grand sproggs are here on Saturdays, it is Hotdog day. And Tash has discovered Nando’s Sweet Chilli Jam.
It is a taste sensation. 😁👍
 
My 10yr old grandson (daughter's) last night. Sleepover solo.
Sleepovers are inevitably triples with my two grandaughters (son's) 11 and 8.
When that happens the two oldest sleep in the separate "big beds" which were their parents bedrooms.
The youngest sleeps in what was the "nursery" which now has a childs single bed.
Last night we said "Whichever bedroom you want". He quietly said "I'll sleep in the small room".
He's an advanced and avid reader but five minutes later I burst in and said "Look what I found!" It's the only remaining book from when the four of us snuggled up, years ago, last thing before lights out - " The Bear" (in the woods").
He remembered every little detail and loved it.
We hugged goodnight, I closed the door and he called "Goodnight grampy, I love you".
Priceless.

My daughter, partner and grandson were moving into a new rented place on Friday.
Letting agents said landlord promised a "deep clean" before handover.
Did he bullocks!
Upstairs fine, downstairs partially subground level basement discovered to have massive damp penetration and mould between walls and kitchen units, and, on the day, a large dead rat on the pathway.
Move abandoned but old property already let.
Solution?
Hotel Mum and Dad until new place found.
They occupy two bedrooms, the fourth now looks like a jam packed container and our dining room is now an office with desk and "communication centre" as he works from home.
Meal times are now chaotic with mounds of washing up, the living room looks like a charging station, I've lost the chair I sit in and my garage looks like a junkyard.
My suggestion that some of the units in "The Big Yellow Storage Unit" about a mile away has units so big you could actually live in them went "Whoosh!"
So, family bliss with them back in the nest.
How lucky are we, eh? 👍👍
 
When people conflate two phrases to make a new one, either deliberately or by accident - e.g. "it's not rocket surgery".

My mate on the golf course yesterday used the phrase "the carbon opposite". 😂 I loved it, I might start using that from now on.

My brother and I have been making up stuff like that for decades.

I'm going to put your two together.

"Its not rocket surgery, its the carbon opposite." - works really well.

I was wondering if the reverse works as well - "it's a polar copy" 😄
 
Just had a face time call with my Grandson.
We are taking him to the zoo tomorrow and he is very excited.
He then says to me when we finish we will be hungry and thirsty so we can go to McDonalds and the pub and then we will both be happy 😂
 
So today I went to prison. Seriously.
Anyway. One of our RBL
Members his son is a prison officer at Ranby. They refurbed a bench for us earlier this year which was dedicated to a member who passed away years ago.
Today we picked up a raised wooden flower bed type thingy for the girl guides, cubs and scouts etc to put there crosses in on rememberance day.
First time inside and hopefully the last.
Did us proud they did.
