Things That Gladden The Heart

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Clearing a box for the house move I found a (virtually) unused iPod classic. Put it on charge expecting it to be dead as… took awhile to start charging but it good to go now. Think I got it just before the iPad, which I put all my music on.

Lossiemouth Lighthouse, have had an enjoyable few days away with the wife and kids.
I thought I recognised that as Covesea before I saw the text....you will be staying at Silver Sands then given the caravan hiding in the shadows front right?

Beautiful part of the world and a pair of stunning beaches where I spent a lot of my childhood. Will be back there for the Moray Open in July.

Silver Sands is correct, was a last minute decision to go, but had a great time.
Enjoy the golf in July, if you're heading Inverness way give me a shout and if I'm not working, you're welcome to a round.

City, no golf on this visit.

We skirted it, walked around the edges, ate at the cafe, but didn't do the full thing. 3 of us, would have been quite expensive. Is it worth it? If we go back, should we do it?

I have RHS membership so get free entry so do not know the cost. I enjoyed it but my limit for gardens no matter how good is under £10

Generally speaking I find entry in to lots of gardens now getting too expensive for my pocket hence having RHS and National Trust membership both of which I find really good. In particular RHS with their partner garden scheme.

@jim8flog it was £14 each, 3 of us, one of whom would not really have appreciated it. Perhaps we will do it next time.

As you say, entrance can be quite expensive and prohibitive now but equally I understand that these things cost a lot to maintain. When retirement comes I am sure we will join you in taking annual membership of certain organisations to help with this.

Yes it has become like lot of things.

At one time you could just walk in to Wells Cathedral and maybe just put something in the box now there is a fixed charge to go in.

went to the Fatbike meet at Aviemore instead of golfing at Skibo. we did 45 miles of trails. utterly shattered after. place was really quite. hardly a sole about, usually its rammed around there.

We used to visit Wells a fair bit when we lived in Bristol. Indeed I bought my intended her engagement ring in an antique shop in the walls to the cathedral grounds next to the penniless porch. And a couple of years later we bought her wedding ring from another antique shop in the city. Beautiful place.

Out in Majorca with the kids this week. Had a drive from Alcudia up to Formentor and along the M10 to fornalutx and down to Port de
soller yesterday. The M10 is quite simply a Gorgeous rd to drive along which makes the snake pass look like the M62.
Oh ah. If you’re a cyclist. Majorca is cycling Xanadu.
On the downside. That thick bint in the car in front of me that thinks It is acceptable to drive at 15 km An hour whilst filming the route with her phone in her hand needs to give her head a bloody good wobble.
