Things That Gladden The Heart

Went to the recycling centre this week. This chap was emptying the contents of his jam packed car onto the floor to sort out.
Amongst the items was a pristine fitness wheel which he cheerfully let me have.
50th wedding anniversary next month. That's the missus' present sorted 👍

My mates uncle ran the local dump and everything he thought could be recycled/sold went in to a separate area. My first PowaKaddy electric trolley came from there via him (as well as a few golf club sets that went on ebay).

Finally replaced my bath spout!!!! Must be nearly a month of ordering all kinds of different spouts to see if one would fit.. none would so was a replace the fitting to the outlet itself to have a new bit the new spout would fit

I thought the hard bit would be hacksawing it to size.. that was a walk in the park then came the drama

Needed a 10mm Allen key to fit the new one and the old one needed least one bigger than what I had so off I pop to the plumbing shop for new Allen keys

10mm.. too big for old fitting.. 8mm too big.. 7mm too small?? Couldn't get a grip on it either .. so after very carefully hammering the 8mm into it to wedge it in I managed to slowly get the old spout bit out

Perfect. PTFE tape round the new cut to size spout. 10mm Allen key in, do it up nice and tight until it leaves 27mm left (per instructions) and bingo

Tap fitted

Wife will be happy

Oh and whilst typing the above two of my work colleagues emailed me a gift voucher for my favourite restaurant because I help them with their taxes

Truth be told I'm such a nerd I enjoy it, my mate (who is an accountant) always says I should go into accounting. I claim they can't afford me 🤣

But was so out of the blue . So nice

My car had a problem the other day and was towed to the dealer as I was advised not to drive it at all. I have a warranty with it but the question was would it cover the issue? Anyway, just received a phone call and it's been diagnosed as a dual mass flywheel issue and they will replace it foc 🥳.

No need to cancel the holiday, sell a kidney, it's all covered. And now breathe............

If you could hammer in an 8mm, it was 5/16ths.

Pah! Kids these days who don't have an imperial set of allen keys 😤

Layla Tash who is in year 4 came 13th today in the schools cross country which had kids from year 4-6 competing.

And seeing as it’s Mothers day tomorrow. Tash has done a 5 hr slow cooker gammon with a honey, red wine, whole grain mustard, five spices glaze to give to the mums. How I have not already eaten half of it is testament to my strong willpower.

However i do reserve the right to possibly edit this post before the days out, coz I am on Admiral Rodney’s rum and coke and I usually get the munchies.

Its what grandpops do! 🤣😂
He asked me to read his lines several days before.
He was the villanous headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, completely unfazed by the role allotted to him.
I was staggered by the amount of lines he had to learn and he just rattled them off to me perfectly.
He was centre stage for so many scenes and his only drawback was that his villainous caterpillar eyebrows fell off. He stuck them back on, badly, but they fell off again minutes later. 🤭
It was an absolute credit to the school with several children with certain "conditions" being given moments to shine centre stage. Fantastic for confidence building.
Lots of weepy Mums and proud Dads outside afterwards.

Layla Tash is in a school play this week, she plays “ red beard” in Pirates of the Currybean. 😳😂. I have been astonished at her memorising her lines. Also the song and actions is a sight to see.😁

Well they are looking for a new Bond but he might get a shout after him 😂

We had to move from our original allotment plot as it continually flooded. Having spent time and money on getting it in shape it really is something that belongs in the random irritations thread...especially as the Parish Council won't rent it out again as it's not fit for purpose.

Anyhow. My eldest nephew, Carlton, tragically passed away a couple of years back. I found some daffodils called "Carlton" so bought some and planted them out. I popped down to our old plot today and amongst a barren landscape these 10 blooms were standing tall and proud. Made my day...

Having had a very stressful, up & down year with her gymnastics, including having to change gym, today was grading for Miss Wilson, and she flew through it with flying colours! Scores on bars & beam could have been better but smashed a couple of the events she’s struggled in - more importantly she smiled the whole way round and had a great time with her mate & coach.

And carry on blooming in perpetuity hopefully
