Things That Gladden The Heart

Repair Shop tonight.
The young Shoe expert doing stitching repairs with a manual machine "108 years old" whilst comparing a stitching technique to Japanese ceramic repairs.
And the typewriter repair....
And the stained glass repair....
All of it.
That, and Gone Fishing, will lift anyone 👍

Sometimes we all need to step off life’s merry-go-round, and just enjoy the simple pleasures.

Not sure if it is still going but we saw the Repair Shop Live in Bath a few weeks ago. There were 5 of the experts (Will, Steve, Lucia, and the Teddy Bear Ladies) talking about how they got into repairs and their memories of the show and favourite mends. Great night out

It's the simple things in life

Mother in law has come to ours to stay for the night .. we have checked into a hotel nearby for a night of proper sleep. Met up with friends for a kid free dinner which was lovely and spend a few hours watching Disney plus without being asked 1000 questions or one of them waking up for no reason lol

Can get up when we want tomorrow and have a relaxed breakfast

Beautiful.

Never tell them that I miss them ofc.

Oh and we saw a few rats on a walk and I found out the wife is petrified of them lol never seen her scared of anything it was quite hilarious watching her hide behind me when she is normally so fearless

Butternut squash and carrot soup.
Not Heinz but Meinz 🙂
Bits of both left over and the last three baby potatoes (and an onion and spices in the cupboard that never see daylight!)
Every week we have something unused that stays in the fridge "for later" and then gets thrown, and I always feel guilty.
Today I donned my cape and made a litre of soup.... and it's vair nice I must say!
I'm basking in my contribution to the planet, and my budget!

My fav, throw together, soup. Always gets lots of pepper in it from me.

"Bendy soup".
If you have carrots, parsnips, mushrooms or whatever veg that are turning limp,
1 Bin 'em 👎
2 Pimp 'em up and make soup 👍
I once owned a "Soup" recipe book.
Every recipe started with " finely dice an onion".

My daughter a couple years ago started an after school theatre group called Musical Theatre High

She first started off in the little ones doing a few little shows for parents and last year got moved up to juniors , she was the youngest and smallest there and was naturally scared ,

Well 8 months later she has just finished her first three proper shows in a proper theatre in MK ,

It’s given her so much confidence and to see her up there in front off a full audience singing and dancing made my heart melt and eyes full of tears with pride

She is still the smallest and youngest there until the next term

She loves it that much she can’t wait to start getting ready for the next show

Theatre , music , dance is brilliant for young kids to get involved in - recommend it for anyone who is looking to help their kids grow

The lad went mountain biking with his cadet squadron today. At the start the Wing Commander was telling them all it would be hard going, 25 miles and there would be little stopping.

The look of horror on some of the kids faces with a “what have we signed up for?” look on their Chevy chases. Glance at my lad and he’s busy getting his helmet go pro set up and all his tracking apps. His usual Saturday morning consists of a 35-40 mile cycle so he was not concerned.

Went back to pick him up at the agreed time and he’s first one back, which included WC and his NCO who asked him where he got his energy from when they finally got back.

The Go Pro footage is quite funny as he is just blasting up the hillside and you can hear an adult shouting about taking a break in the background.
