Things That Gladden The Heart

Well…that’s that…my MiL went flying with the angels early this morning🙏

Sad times, but the last few days have been very difficult and my wife has been with her all week. We are so grateful that she made Christmas as she’d hoped and told us…and we had a lovely Christmas lunch with her in the home - at a communal table in the Care Home dining room with 12 other residents. We had a lovely day with her, and she with us, the other residents and the care home staff.

That makes a lovely memory for my wife to hold on to after such a difficult time - her brother having passed away just 3 months ago and three really tough years of supporting them both.

Life eh…though my MiL…Kay…was ready to go…life is precious and to be cherished.
How dreadfully sad. It must have been intensely sad for her to lose her son, no parent wants that. But they're together again now and at peace at last.

Don't mourn her death, Hugh, celebrate her life. (y)
Our Golf Club function room holds a lot of "wakes". When we're stood in the bar we can observe many of them (respectfully) and they're too often muted.
I walked in a week or so back and the notice board said "A Celebration of Life". In the function room was a video playing on a large screen and a crowd of "mourners" laughing aloud.
I went to a Humanitarian funeral many years back and it was a revelation to my Catholic upbringing. It was compassionate and respectful but littered with laughter, music and beautiful images.
I got home and said to ny wife "I know exactly how we're gonna go!" and that's what's in our wills.
I've attended some bluddy awful, miserable dirges in my time.
So, I'm with Slime 😉

Richer Sounds.

Our tv is pretty ancient so decided to upgrade. Picked out a replacement set and had a trawl comparing prices. RS were lowest at £549 until I found some company I’ve never heard off doing it for £499 on Amazon.

Asked RS if they would price match. They came back and said they couldn’t as they were giving a 6 year warranty and the other mob weren’t giving anything above the bog standard. They did say they would drop to £519 which seemed decent so I gave them a call. Asked about delivery. Standard delivery was free in 3-5 working days, £20 if I wanted next day. I asked if there was any way they could do next day for free, they immediately agreed.

A pleasure doing business with them.

Richer Sounds are my 'go to' for anything like that, they are an awesome company.

The muppet in Tesco car park who parked so close to a trolley pak that he couldn't get out, flung his door open dramatically and squealed in horror as his fairly new car received an extraordinarily large dent in the door...
Bozo level- Expert..... :ROFLMAO:
i can do better than that, some clown just left his cart in the middle of the turning circle out the front of our building. plenty of spaces though its not a public car park, just went off hiking for the day. our snow contractors just cleared around it now hes in a island of snow built up around it:D

Currently sat in Agadir Morocco. The weather has been gorgeous. However that’s not the gladdens the heart bit. There’s quite a few families here and it has proper wound me up seeing families sat at a table and the kids are on iPads and parents on phones.
Tonight me and Missis Tash have had a gorgeous Chinese at a restaurant. Behind me I could hear this kid who was rattling away and he was really excited talking to his mum And dad about anything and everything. They were talking back to him and although it should be the norm, it was gloriously uplifting. So much so I collared his mum when she walked past And I told her so. She was chuffed to bits.

Here here. And why have you been after that one. 👍
The label is one that is very important to me and I had every single release but had to sell a load of records about 15 years ago. I have been rebuilding the label collection exactly as I had it before (many of the first pressings were coloured, normally white, except this one that was clear) and it’s the first time a VG+ graded clear pressing has come up in 6 years at least.

Don’t know if I mentioned this. But one of the lads who I sometimes have a drink with on a Thursday night. He loves his music. Predominately rock, heavy rock. The gigs he has been to over the years. Anyway I asked about his record/ vinyl Collection. He went quiet. About 15 years ago he got up one Sunday morning. He was bored so emptied the loft of all his rubbish. He took hundreds of LPs and singles to the dump. He still has nightmares about that day. He says ( his collection) it was worth thousands. ☹️

I would never bin any of my vinyl. I have somewhere around 2900 records, having slimmed down from around 3300 at one point.

I regretted selling the ones I did in 2010 but the circumstances demanded drastic actions.

Let’s just say that it’s costing a considerable amount more to replace them versus what they were sold for.
