I would never bin any of my vinyl. I have somewhere around 2900 records, having slimmed down from around 3300 at one point.

I regretted selling the ones I did in 2010 but the circumstances demanded drastic actions.

Let’s just say that it’s costing a considerable amount more to replace them versus what they were sold for.
I struggle with the idea of putting any of my vinyl records to charity shop...even though many I now have I've inherited and am not hugely interested in them. I just might very occasionally play one or two - and they might even come back into fashion. I'm thinking specifically of you from the 70s/80s - The Carpenters; Neil Diamond; and from the 50s - Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis.

That said - I just could not hold onto 20 or so Nana Mouskouri; Val Doonican; James Last and 100 Best Tunes of my MiL. They went. I might regret it - I doubt it.

I have absolutely no idea how many albums I have...if I had to guess - about 1000, and the 90-100 mid-70s to mid-80s punk; post-punk and krautrock/electronica I've just inherited from my BiLs estate are a great addition..and they aren't going anywhere.

The thing is. Where do you draw the line.
Me mum (she is 86) had a clear out of her dad’s stuff. We are talking old gramophone and the records that went with that. Guess who is the mug that has it sat in his dining room. There’s stuff in there going back to to 1930s and probably earlier. 😳

Currently sat in Agadir Morocco. The weather has been gorgeous. However that’s not the gladdens the heart bit. There’s quite a few families here and it has proper wound me up seeing families sat at a table and the kids are on iPads and parents on phones.
Tonight me and Missis Tash have had a gorgeous Chinese at a restaurant. Behind me I could hear this kid who was rattling away and he was really excited talking to his mum And dad about anything and everything. They were talking back to him and although it should be the norm, it was gloriously uplifting. So much so I collared his mum when she walked past And I told her so. She was chuffed to bits.

I'd have done the same. There's a young lad in our village who always lifts my spirits. Out on his bike in shorts in all weathers. Walking the dogs the other morning and he's skipping off to catch the school bus. Still in shorts! Just a lovely innocent energy about him.

Been splitting wood from the bottom of my oldest stack, very satisfying work. Although it’s been in situ for about 4 years now and some of the spiders are frankly terrifying 😆

Always spend a day cutting the logs and splitting them ready for the winter and find it quite therapeutic. There’s something about Alpha male stuff that gladdens the heart.
Saw some guys chopping down trees last year and chucked a load of logs that needed cutting in the back of the car. I gave them a tub of Roses I had in the car. They said I didn’t have to. If they saw the price of logs in Tesco today, they would of charged me more.

Not having to defrost the car this morning.
Same here today, playing at 9.30 with no hassle with car.
On Saturday, because of the frost, we abandoned an 8.00 slot for a free 11.00 slot. Not too bad but still a little hand numbing.
However, I made a "heart (not hand) warming" discovery. After teeing off I slipped a bulky mitt on my right hand. Got to my ball, played second shot - not bad - then got to my third shot, went to play it and realised I'd played my second still wearing the mitt!
So then I thought "Can I do it again?" And I did, but missed the green.
Went conventional after that but still played a few more during the round out of curiosity.
Cant wait for a good hard freeze now! 😀

In a similar vein, spent the evening sharpening chisels and planer blades. Just the sound of the diamond stones grinding down the edges to razor sharp.

Very therapeutic and satisfying.

Still got the utility chisels to do but the fine finish Japanese ones are done as are all the hand plane blades.

Satisfying indeed…

Now the oldest ramshackle log store is empty I have grand designs on a new log store 3 times as big… Roll on Spring!

Well…here’s a thing. Found amongst my BILs stuff we are having to work through.

A original ticket for the Sex Pistols gig that was cancelled after Derby City Council took fright immediately following the now (in)famous Bill Grundy Sex Pistols interview on 1st December 1976. I think it could be worth a lot of £s but I think I’ll hold on to it. He’s got quite a lot of stuff from that time that might well be worth a bit nowadays…and I dont think he quite realised 🙁

Just one absolutely magic bit of punk memorabilia. What a line up. Gladden or Sadden…I’m not sure - the latter I think.

@Sid Rixon IV I'm impressed you could even hold a club with a golf mitt on. Mine are a bit like clowns gloves, there is no chance I could actually hit a shot with one on
Not as impressed as I was. I shouted to my playing partners "Oi! I had my bluddy mitt on!"
I think I was so focussed on my current habit of smashing my mat before the ball that I simply forgot.
Give it a go!
