Anyone hear of the '3 Skills' golf teaching method? A guy called Joe Hagen devised a way of teaching people to play golf by not showing them how to swing the club but by focusing on 'impact conditions' only. He also used imagery to create these conditions, things like imagining driving a nail through the ball at various angles depending on what club you are using. It was very effective at improving people at many levels. His book was called 'Nail It" Not sure if it is still available but was a great read.

This is horse sheet. Slot? What? Eh? Madness. Just stand up and hit the ball.

I'm in Crossfields camp in case that wasn't clear.

The principles of good swing plane haven't changed since Old Tom and Hogan! All the launch monitors in the world can't change that.

I've never defended the name The Slot - it's a US term and it sounds sh##t - however, I can't watch a PGA Pro give such a dismissive answer to such an important concept!
If the Golf Guru was more like Jim Mclean, he may have 20 world wide Golf Academies and have the title 'coach to multiple major winners' on his CV.

Sorry but I'm firmly with Mark Crossfield on this one and think you're way off the mark and borderline OCD with all this slot nonsense. I have a very quirky swing that has taken a lot of time and effort to get into something that not repeats a lot of the time but which I understand. I've had a lot of lessons to get this far never once has my teaching pro mentioned the slot.

As far as I'm concerned, it makes absolutely no difference whether there is or isn't a slot. All that matters is the impact and the club path and the way the ball flies. If the ball flight behaves and you can get the club in an ok position at impact then what goes on in the swing is largely irrelevant. For handicap golfers understanding impact and trying to get a neutral ball flight is more important.

The Mark Crossfield videos are short, relatively jargon free and designed at his target audience to give bite size pieces of advice and he is right about that it doesn't matter. I think you're a long way off the mark here but that's just my humble opinion. Carry on looking for the slot if you want. I'll take my unique swing and carry on making decent contact and hitting it straight most of the time. Now if only I could chip!

I think MC is being very patient with you. He has explained his opinion but you do not seem to want to accept it. Let it drop and get on with your golf.
