The Shame!

Has anyone else encountered the type of shameful incident on the course which keeps them awake at night?

I had a tricky situation recently. Was playing a wierd format where we were playing in a fourball and then after taking the best drive we would drop our balls and then do our own thing. After about 6 holes it occurred to me that two of the people I were playing with (both high handicappers) weren't including the drive shot - they were just counting their own shots. I hinted at this to the other person I was playing with who was writing down the scores but I'm not sure if he payed that much attention as we came first in the scramble and we played really badly. We all won TM three woods but I felt very, very guilty and still do now. In fact I've given the wood away without even hitting it because of the shame!

Teetotal, I have read your posts regularly and I have come to the conclusion you are a time served golfer and in your heart of hearts you know right from wrong. You knew your partners were CHEATING from the 6th hole. You may well have given the winners prize away but it is clear to me that you value your integrity more than a 3 wood. Fess up, give it back and play for the rest of your life with a clear conscience.
