Has anyone played The Roxburghe GC near Kelso in the Scottish Borders?

Going along for a game late March. Is it any good?

Thanks

I haven't played it myself, but took a look at the website and reviews on the UK Golf Guide website and it looks, and reads, as if it's a great place to play.

Link to the Golf Guide reviews below, hope it works...

Looks a toughie from the pics on the website, and the one over riding thing that comes through in the reviews.......hire a buggy!
Hope you enjoy your visit

;)

I have played it a lot and think it is really good!! It has some really good holes but also has some average holes. Par 5 14th along side the river Tweed is the most scenic! You will enjoy....good luck!!

It is okay, much overhyped IMO and will be a bit 'clatchy' at that time of year unless we get a really dry run of weather.Sure you will enjoy it for zilch tho Steve but allow 4 hours easy for a 4 ball as it is a typical Thomas resort course of long walks, big tees, big fairways and big greens.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on it after you have been.

Played it a couple of times and have to agree. It's a decent enough course and there are a couple of cracking holes but in general it is best remembered for the long walks betweens holes and 4 1/2 to 5 hour rounds. I would have to say I was a little disappointed in the place having read reviews I expected better and yes it is overhyped.

I like the roxburghe it is a good course that offers a lot to all standards of golfer i would say to fully appreciate the design you have to play it from the back tees. As peter_ro says their are average holes for me its 3, 15,16 and 17 but they are in no way bad holes. It is a really nice walk with some excellent scenery.
