I have been requiring a driver fitting, my present situation has left me wondering whether I was getting the most out of my driver. It started when I bought my 5 wood, this club was hideously easy to hit straight and offered accuracy and distance in ample measure. My driver was only 5 yards longer on carry and less predictable. I have been reading on here about the SLDR and was going to look at the cleveland classic xl. Unfortunately the cleveland fitting centre was 1 hour drive away and due to my responsibilities and my wife's work load, I could not devote 2 1/2 hrs. I had also postponed once as getting days when my wife can sit down for 2-3hrs with our son are few and far between.
Anyway I checked out a shop near me, about 10 mins drive and he had the SLDR in stock, so I thought I would check it out. I tried it, I tried the stage 2 as well, the stage 2 worked better for me. I had taken my 5 wood and said, I wanted something that felt like this. So he selected a number of clubs with similar shaft specs. They did feel roughly like my 5 wood but he bought out this Yonex thingy and this really felt like my 5 wood. It also was the longest of all of them and straightest as well. So in true impatient fashion, I bought it and then drove home thinking have I made a huge error...
Well I took it down the range last night and warmed up and hit a few 5 woods erratically at first and then just got into my stride. Changed to this new driver and blocked one immediately right, but after that I just started to hit it nice and straight, it seemed to just hang in the air ... I think this yonex I-ezone jobbie might have a future.
