Hoping someone can help?

I'm going to the open at lytham on Thursday, and wondered if anyone had any tips for the best grandstand to try and get a seat in?

Planning on getting there for about 6 am.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gonna be at Lytham all week and went there today. 18th grandstand is good, but there is a grandstand by the 6th green where you can also see the people on the 7th tee teeing off. That would be the best grandstand in my opinion.

Have fun !

Thanks mate, appreciate the help.hopefully get on the 6th then.have a good week

I went yesterday and the best stand was at the back of the 8th.
If you sit at the back of the stand you can see approach shots to the 8th, tee shots to the par 3 9th green, tee shots and approach shots on the 10th.

It's a great spot but I'd imagine it will be pretty popular from Thursday onwards.

Best seat will be my sofa at home where I will see every tee, every fairway and every green. Plus if I want to experience some of the atmosphere I'll chuck a cup of water over my head every now and then.

This is one of the occasions when I miss the Golf Channel, with their wall to wall coverage of the press conferences.

I'm going on Thursday and I'm in a dilemma as what to do.

Should I plump for a seat in the grandstand and watch one particular part of the course or should I follow a group around form the 1st to the 18th green?

It's good to start at the 18th then work your way back. That way you'll see the course and lots of different groups.

If you start at the 1st you'll find yourself watching the same players most of the time.

I think if your there just for the day you can sometimes find yourself rushing around trying to do and see as much as possible.

Don't forget to make yourself a really poor quality burger in a stale bun and a platic cup of lukewarm tea and charge yourself £9 for it

I shall be watching and hoping to catch a glimpse of Dale Whitnell who is a pro based at our club. Highly doubt he will get any tv coverage but will keep an eye out for him.

I will be following it through the Beeb coverage...and going to make a cup of tea when Ken Brown appears.

Don't forget that the Beeb usually have 3 holes constantly live on the red button, so if you work out what time he will be going through these holes you can switch across and watch him.
