What genre you into? I read a lot of sci-fi and military history. Currently reading Mud Blood and Poppycock, a brilliant book by Gordon Corrigan in which he debunks a lot of the British myths around the 1st world war.

What genre do you like?

Personally I like spy/thriller novels.
I’d recommend anything by John Le Carre or Frederick Forsyth, for those genres.

Have you tried the Millenium Trilogy, the girl with the dragon tattoo etc?
They are good journalistic detective thrillers.

I like a good detective novel and am not immune to sci fi as long as its not too far fetched.
not into horror so not really a Stephen King fan .

Anything by Alastair Reynolds is worth a read, he does hard sci-fi series, something lighter would be A long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers, great fun.

Read the James Bond novels.
Much better than the films - Moonraker is my favourite

Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly are more than worthy of a read...
Intermixed with his Michal Haller series of course, they kind of run in parallel.

I am currently reading James Patterson's Alex Cross series. Plenty of books to go by, I am at 6 of 23 of them.

Any travel book by Bill Bryson, they are all very informative and highly amusing.

Child 44 - John Rob Smith iirc, rest of the series is also excellent.
Anything by David Mitchell, the author not the actor 😁

This re Child 44, excellent read.

If Military is your style, Sven Hassel but try to read them in order.

Reading Joy Ellis fens police series. Well written, and based in part of England I know nothing about. Best to read in order.

Big fan of the Rebus and Bosch books as well.

If you like a war book, HMS Ulysses by Alistair MacLean is a cracker. Hamming Innes wrote some good books about different parts of the world. The Land God Gave to Cain and The Blue Ice two of my favourites.
