Ive just finished reading the Moe Norman biog and was interested to try out for myself Moes set up at address.Moe didnt address the ball directly behind but some 6 inches behind on the take back arc.The idea being that it forces you to take back the clubhead on the correct line because you have started the swing at address.I went back 4 or 5 inches at address on the backswing arc with the very end of the toe of the club level with the top line of the ball but the clubhead at an angle because you have in affect started the backswing and my hands ahead of the ball.I guarantee this will force you to start your backswing on the correct swing path and with your hands forward will make you hit down on the ball. The results were impressive with a great ball flight that for once I felt in total control of.It can feel strange to start with but with any swing adjustment it will feel the norm pretty soon.Try it nothing to lose :)

He was considered by many to have been one of the best if not the best, ball striker of all time. I often ask myself why most pros will teach us to swing the modern way instead of copying an older swing like Hogans or a simple one like Mo's.

My swing is complicated enough already without anything new to contemplate. I've no doubt it may work and I agree the Moe was a largely unrecognised genius in terms of the swing and ball striking but I'll struggle trying to tame my own demons. Never say never though and I'll report back if I try it

I've had a pro suggest this as a practice drill for my driver. Worked well on the drill, but don't know if I'd trust it on a full swing!
