Viv Richard was fab and watched him during the early years... Loved his game, but not sure how he would have survived in today's more commercial games...Gayle is the closest in his mould.

Lara was good, but I found him a bit selfish... Some of the 300+ scores were scored without any regard to the final output of the game.

So Sachin comes tops for me... His longevity, consistency and his ability in all forms of the game has been unparalleled. Also cannot underestimate the pressure of playing for a billions of people every time you step out. I think there is a BBC webpage that rates Sachin as the worlds 29th Best batsman.. Makes interesting reading

The unsung hero of his generation is probably Rahul Dravid...what a class ac the was.. Always the 'wall'.
