Back in the day when I first got Sky I thought all my Christmas's had come at once when I discovered channel 423 'THE GOLF CHANNEL'

If my mind serves me correctly it was quite informative and fresh THEN but over the last year or so it has become almost embarrassing. A little bit like flairs, mullets and perms you think they are the colest at the time then you realise your head was up your ronson lighter.

I don't think they have made a new 'playing lessons from the pro's' in years

Golf Central Daily is tolerable but I am scunnered with all the useless 5H1T that is on those americanised 'infomercials' which I would never entertain.

Now I am asking myself :

Do REAL golfers watch this channel anymore?
Should we boycott JJB for encouraging gullible choppers to buy GUFF that will do bugger all for your game if you swing like J.R. Hartley.
Has anyone got A 'PERFECT CLUB'?

so your not a fan then.
your right about the repeats but im in the honymoon period where i soak up as much as i can.
i have to say tho that as a begginner it would have cost me a fortune in lessons to learn all i have off this channel.
granted theres no substitute for hands on tuition so im getting lessons.
example of this is when my pro told me im going over the top i only understood this term due to g.c.
saved him time explaining and me paying for a lenghthy explanation.
this is just a small example.
i understand how tedious this channel would be for an experienced player tho.
BIG BREAK 7 is well worth a watch and looking forward to BIG BREAK MESQUITE in october.
but no i havent got a perfect club neither can i impersonate peter kessler or whatever his name is.

Just come in from the dentists and 423 is on I'm afraid.
The Plus 10 is back except now it's the Plus 10 Cubed!
Where's my credit card?
Hold on it's the Explanar - I so want one of those!
But best of all, here it is 'David Blair's Secrets of Golf' -who IS this man? Looks like an old coffin dodger with a really flat swing and a dreadfully cheap looking corporate graphic, like his wife made it on Photoshop. I always wonder how many of those DVD's he's actually managed to flog.
They used to do re-runs of mens majors, why cant they just do that again and get rid of all the other toss??

I would love it if they played repeats of old majors. I stoon in the American Golf shop @ Braid Hills in Edinburgh for the best part of an hour watching The Bear and Tom Kite go head to head.

I would love to get my hands (and feet for that matter)on the guy who does the ad for the Perfect Club. He is such a sanctimonious pompous Tw@.

I never watch the golf channel now.
NEVER.
I'd rather sit and flick through an old copy of GM than watch that rubbish.
Any prizes going? <shamelessplugofthemagazineforafreegiftsmiley>

Seriously, I never watch it.

The only "Perfect Club" I'm interested in is one that gives you free beer and has nudie girls dancing on your table. A bit like the one in the Carlsberg advert.

I don't have any golf channels, but I only have freeview.
When I bought the unit, it said you could buy top up cards for subscription to certain channels......but in their wisdom the freeview people (whoever they are) have made this only possible with top up tv boxes...so bo*****s to them!

One day the whole pay tv world will disappear up their own places where the sun don't shine. I look forward to it. I would gladly part with almost any amount to buy the hardware to then be able to access, say the majors, on p-p-v, but they want subscriptions and loads of cash for utter rubbish.

Most of the money goes to footballers anyway.....so s** it!

There was an interesting little programme on last night about the top 10 most improbable winners in golf. You can probably guess most of them...Paul Lawrie, Shaun Micheel, Ben Curtis, Jack Fleck, John Daly's first major etc. Number one was Francis Ouimet in the 1913 US Open. They played a clip of an interview with him when he was an old man, talking about playing with Harry Vardon and the like. Fascinating.

Of course they could also have mentioned the likes of Todd Hamilton, Zach Johnson and plenty of others but maybe the programme was made before they had their day in the sun.

did anyone watch the fore inventors only final.
for me the hill shot should have won.but i could see the simplicity of the winning club caddy.although i think its an americans tool because they all use buggys and leave bag on back so carry a few clubs off with them.well thats my theory anyway.

The whole thing just looks cheap and nasty. Too Americanised - how anyone has the patience to follow anything with an ad break every three minutes stuffed with the type of rubbish you get given for Christmas from a non-golfer is beyond me. If they need to fill space with cheap stuff then re-runs of old Ryder Cups would be good.

I watched the advert for "the perfect club", once and thought to myself why on earth would we need to carry another 13 clubs, I mean this "perfect club" could be used anywhere. Imagine if we all bought 1 of these clubs all the golf club makers would be out of business. Anyone who has bought this club must be so thick they shouldn't be allowed on a golf course. But it takes all sorts of people!!!!!!!

Handicap to date 1.9

We were discussing "the perfect club" at the range tonight. I am actually tempted to at least try the club out however, if the club was so great all the leading amateurs/some pro's would be using it and as far as I'm aware - they don't whether equipment provider/sponsorship issues come into it I don't know?

Imagine Nike Sales plummeting when Tiger comes out and says use the Perfect Club - forget Nike Square/Hybrids or the Execs at Callaway sweating when Phil ditches them for this....

ok I'm talking crazy now but there's a point there somewhere.

the perfect club could just be perfect but because of its name it has no credibility or respect i think. also they are boring looking like an old steel wood.if they had a demo at the range though,i bet everyone would love to give it a swing marko77 just to satisfy the nagging curiousity we have.
