THE GOLDEN CHIPPER RUTLAND MEET 20/08/2011

The final details are in and after the voting the event will be at Rutland Water Golf Club on Saturday 20th August. The format will be 9 holes on the par 3 first followed by 18 holes on the main course. The par 3 is by no means a pitch and put and last time I played I used every club up to a 5 wood. It is interesting and challenging and a good warm up. Then on to the main course, 18 holes with stunning views over Rutland Water. The day will start at 10.00 with bacon rolls and coffee followed by the par 3 about about 11.00 then on to the main course. The cost for the day will be £33.00. The Golden Chipper is the main prize and I will sort out some other odds and ends as prizes but it anyone wants to donate something, feel free.

Provisionally I have 16 spaces (4 tee times) but I can change this depending on numbers.

Please post those who definitely wish to attend.

Thanks for that though it may be me who ends up messing people around. Seems that something about this one has not grabbed the interest of the forum. Certainly I need a few more to sign up to make it a reasonable sized group and to secure the prices etc that I have. At the moment I could just about sign everyone in at my place for a round. Anyway, I will give it a few more days but out fairness to the course who have put aside the tee times on a Summer weekend (and out of fairness to my wallet as they want a deposit soon) I may have to postpone this meet.

If I do postpone then I will check that I can and will happilly sign you all in at my place that day at a time to suit (only £16 for the round and a great halfway hut).

I can vouch for the halfway hut! a welcome sight at the back of the 10th green

Sorry to those who have put there name down for this but I am going to have to cancel. The price I have would not be available for 5 people and, to be fair, the course will not allow me to rserve tee times with only 5. I could take a gamble on more people putting there name down over the next week or so but I would then need to put a deposit down and I cannot afford to take the financial gamble at the moment. My apologies to everyone who expressed an interest but with so many meets at bigger courses or more local to people and with the Centenary Events as well, Rutland just does not seem to have grabbed the attention of the forum as a whole.

If anybody is arranging a suitable meet and wants to compete for the Golden Chipper, I am happy to pass it on to ensure that there are regular competitions for it.
