Today I received a letter from the Adidas Group informing me that my new Taylor Made 3 Wood had been intercepted by the Border Agency as it was a fake sold to me by GOLFUKWORLD.Co.UK. Let this be a warning that this site is bogus and even if you get your club it will be a copy of poor quality. It has cost me £90 and a valuable lessons that saving cash is not always a good thing. The site looked good and I had lots of e-mails promising my club. I ended up being threatened with importing fake goods. KEEP CLEAR.

Preaching to the converted here. These companies usually have a price point low enough to tempt but high enough to make you think it could be legit. They used to be ridiculous with the price difference and that screamed "FAKE".

This type of thing makes alarm bells ring though. I haven't come across a fake club site that hasn't given itself away on the main page.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

On reading that and having looked at some of my posts it's lucky I don't try to sell legit clubs. So many typos!

whilst it's always interesting to see yet another who's found one of the trading names this group operate under it's a shame that they come on posting about the issue rather than the 'looks to good to be true can I trust them' first posts.

it also adds to the paranoia as I spent 30 minutes earlier trying to make sure that the one I got on Wed wasn't fake!

Yes and they all sell ping club, plus no UK phone number.

I think the best Fake seller site I saw was. Americansgolf. Note the closeness of the name to Americangolf the legit site. One little touch they did, was put a link to American golf for the phone number. So watch you don't get caught out by it.

Forgot about the Ping thing. I hope Ping never change that policy. It's a dead giveaway for the dodgy sites.

On saying that I do know someone that dropped from 22 to 15 handicap using fake X-18's. Proof, if proof is needed, that the club doesn't make the player.

One of my playing partners bought some TM Burner irons and all the infills at the back of the clubs have fallen off - he still hits them ok but cant afford to replace them - a lesson learned?

I don't understand why you would buy something so cheap, and expect it to be real. My pro might not be the cheapest, but by god i know i am buying quality, genuine items. Welcome to the forum, sorry for your miss fortune. It could have been worse.........

Also it makes you wonder if its safe buying second hand clubs on ebay

I think i will stick to American Golf stores in future or Direct Golf

It is why I don't buy clubs online. Yes I know there are a load of reputable ones out there (Snaiton, Direct Golf etc) but I'd rather hit the bloody thing myself and buy it then and there. Has to be easier if something does o wrong with it

I agree and if found later to be faulty or fake you can take it back to the store

The fakes however are getting very hard to detect and some play very much like the original

Makes you think !

I think Ping has the best policy no internet sales
