The EFL Thread

Watched the Rotherham v Blackpool game last night and settled down with high hopes. We were on an 8 match unbeaten run in the League and playing the 2nd bottom team with the worst away record in the League, only scoring 4 goals away from home.
The hope lasted 90 seconds when we were 0-1 down and it just got worse from there. 2 early injuries to add to the long list of absentees, 2 more goals conceded form basic defensive errors and only 1 fit forward who seems to spend more time wrestling with defenders than trying to actually score. On the plus side we did rally a bit in the 2nd half adn hit the woodwork twice but lacked the firepower to get ball in the back of the net. Frustrating watch.

Just watched the mighty Reading beat Luton 3-2. I’m not convinced we deserve the win and 3pts but I’ll take it. Early penalty from Lewis Wing took us in 1-0 at HT, great finish from Jack Marriot on the break to put us 2-0 early in the 2nd half. Then we proceeded to drop so deep it was ridiculous at one point we had less than 37% possession at home so no surprises we conceded 2 goals to make it 2-2 and looking like Luton would go into win as they were pulling our Midfield apart.

But then another quick break, great first touch and finish from Ehibhatiomhan just to drive a nail into Luton’s hopes and some last ditch defending meant we bagged the 3pts and have moved up the heady heights of 14th in the table 😊

Well we've won again today, smashing Plymouth 4-1 away!

Started well, missed a sitter and then get a penalty for a shirt pull which was also deemed a red card as it was a clear chance from 5 yards out. We score and then go 3-0 up within 20 minutes before deciding the game is over and switching off. Plymouth back into it and make it 3-1, they then get a penalty and the leagues top scorer does a panenka which is saved. We go down the other end and make it 4-1. World class pass and finish from Jack Marriott.

Mad game. Lewis Wing was superb today, 2 goals, 1 assist and a ridiculous block that stopped a clear goal.

Gutted I didn’t go but we had the outlaws round so I had to forego one of the few games I’m about for this season but nice to see us moving up.

Feel the pain. I've been to all the crap games so far and the two games I miss we win 3-2 at home and 4-1 away!

Back on NYD, so put us down for a 0-0 or 0-1 defeat 😅

Another game I can’t make! Was wanting to go with my lad and take him to watch some real football, but Mrs M has double booked us to visit her Mum and Step dad in Taunton before I go away again with work 😒

Hoping to get back in Feb and make a few games at the back end of season where hopefully we’ll be vying at least for a play off spot ( crosses fingers, toes and other extremities)

Ah gutted. Family comes first at this time of the year though.

Fingers crossed we can get a few new signings in and make a play off push 😎

Another win today! Made a few changes due to the games coming thick and fast but a well deserved three points. The only shame was not getting a few more as Burton were a terrible side. The second half was like a training game and I don't think they managed a shot on goal.

Stockport in a few days time will be a much tougher task.

Neilds - What's going on at Rotherham? 6 defeats in a row?! 👀

I would like to blame the injuries but think it is the manager being out of his depth. First managerial role and I think it is beginning to show as some of his decision making is a bit strange. Leaving Hugill on when we need a goal and not putting on are top scorer (when he is actually fit enough) is not endearing him to the fans. Think his days might be numbered if we don’t get a few bodies in during the transfer window.
