Played in a Medal yesterday, and once again, snatched Defeat from the jaws of Victory

Gross 78, Nett 68. (CSS 68) 4th Comp in a row that Ive either played to H/C or within buffer, so although consistent, much to pick over.

Front 9 - 3 over Gross.
Fairways Hit 71% GIR - 88% (8 of 9) Putts 19.

Back 9 - 7 over Gross. :D
Fairways Hit 16.66% (1 of 6 !) GIR - 44% (4 of 9) Putts 17.

The Harder 9 of my course admittedly, with 6 of the course's hardest holes,
and whilst my putter could have been 'hotter' all day, just shows you just have to hit the short stuff, and give yourself chance of seeing the damned green !

However, trying desperately to find a positive out of things, thats 4 Comps in a row that I havent gone up by .1, which hopefully bodes well for the rest of the season

Keep at it Chris , believe me one day soon you'll hole sheds loads of putts and you'll score great. Keep things simple and even try a few irons off tees cos theres loads of run on the fairways atm. Like you say hit the fw and the rest is easy.

I myself have started to score again recently. This weekend I shot 74 Sat after being 3 under gross after 13 , and then threw a 70 gross in yesterday (2 halves of 35). All of sudden my short game has hit its heights of yesteryear and the confidence has flooded back by not having to worry about the long game

Keep at it. Maybe go out in the evening and play just the back 9 if you can and really look at each hole and decide if you are playing it in the most sensible fashion or are you just taking the same club everytime out of habit.

chris im in the same frame of mind, go out and quite easily hit between 17-20 on the front, yet my back nine always seems to be where the wheels fall off. not sure how to fix it either

I can relate to and commiserate with you. Had it in spades on Monday - bearing mind I am at the opposite end of the spectrum currently 28 on club handicap and trying desperately to get it down as I know I can play better than 28.

46 on the on the way out and 34 on the way back after No. 16 - add another 18 shots (and 2 lost balls) for the last 2 holes!!! Total round 98.
