The biggest single fault

Depends on what you mean by 'fault'.

Swinging too hard could be described as an 'issue' and a slice a 'result'.

Most poor shots are slices but most really bad shots, discounting misses, duffs/foozles and tops, are hooks.

Apparent and fundamental causes of bad shots are many and varied, but in the vast majority, incorrect (or poorly timed) tension plays a huge role.

excuse my ignorance , whats a foozle ?

alignment for me.

either see people aiming way left beacuase of their slice,

or just oblivious they re lined up all wrong, and wonder why it doesn't go straight

Can I only pick one?

You're a hard man to please.

G.A.S.P. with the "A" winning.....

(Dave? that's 4 :))

then catastrophic alignment...

:) LOL.

I play with a guy who pushes it into the right trees 70% of the time. That's where he aims, and that's where it goes.

As you say. A Cat 'as Trophy.

My biggest fault is hitting the ball too many times before it goes in the hole.

Seriously; I believe the terminology for a big fault of mine is “hitting from the top”. I have scuff marks on the top of my woods and hybrid which proves the point. I do try to work on it, but in the heat of the game I often revert back. But if I only had one fault to work on I would be a happy man

For the average club golfer the biggest single fault is underclubbing.

Next time you play pay £1 to your favourite charity every time you are short of the flag with a 5 iron to wedge shot.

i find the biggest fault with most high h/c golfers is trying to play shots in comps. they have never executed before but think THIS time they will hit the green from 180 yds with a 7 iron from the rough,or the miraculous flop shot from the do-do,i normally have the phrase "mmmm unlucky " ready.

I've noticed beginners always take too many practice swings and do far too much thinking on each shot, been guilty of it myself.

It's not a fault, but have you also noticed how most beginners also leave their bags miles away from where they're about to take their shot, always makes me laugh:D

I'd say committing to the shot. I see a number of my oppo's quite simply pull out of the shot, thus invoking a 'duff' shot.
I'm guilty of it myself though..:blah:

Too much use of the arms / wrists / arm bend

and poor posture

Mostly based on average Joe isnt fit enough to get full backswing shoulder turn so arms / bend take over
