Well, I am nearing my 40th birthday and the good lady has asked me what I want for my big prezzie. I am in two minds as to what I want because I would like the new Cleveland CG7 Tour irons but to be honest I love my CG4 tour.

The other option is ahem, cought, splutter ...

A leccy trolley.

Now I know I have been vocal about these course wasters but I aint getting any younger and as you get to my age you like to be prepared for any eventuallity so that means carrying everything including the kitchen sink.

I know there are loyal Go Tupperware Karters amongst us but if I am getting one I am gonna skin her so am thinking about Freeway II or Motocaddy.

What do you think I should go for?

I don't believe it! Am I going to beat you to it.....?

I've decided to postpone the leccy trolley 'till 45, but that might change in another 12 months and 2 weeks.

I have a twinline 3 and it's the dog's. Can't see the point in saving the small energy it takes to wheel this bad boy around.

I'm not going to do it....unless it appears gift-wrapped on the day. :)

Choice of Motorcaddy or Powercaddy??

If the number of Powercaddys and Hillbillys outside our Pro shop waiting for the repair man to call is any indication, I think I would go for the Motorcaddy - in fact I did a couple of years back :) :)

I know I'm in the other camp but there have been so many reliability problems and issues I've heard about Motocaddy and Powwercaddy from members at my club and on here. The after sales service of GK was a real clincher and so far so good. Whatever you choose to get I hope you enjoy it. Remembers the 40's are really the new 30's. As long as you don't end up in hospital like I did for nearly a month a few weeks after hitting 40 it's all fine really.

I can think of a lot of things....

Don't go for anything golf related as your body is just about to pack up. When I turned 40 I heard the sound of the door closing.. it was my golfswing leaving

Go to Costco and buy yourself a Powerbug X Sport. Ive got 1 and not had a problem for almost 2 years now and you can get them for £180. You even get a year or 2 guarantee and it looks like a Motocaddy :)

40? Flipin eck, you're still a young un. After what you have posted you can't go electric. How about importing a young oriental girl to caddy for you. She could do the ironing for the missus too. Double bonus, everybody wins.

Nothing wrong with a lecky trolly regardless how old you are.

I've the original freeway and love it. I'm not sure what the freeway II is like.

I wouldn't be too keen on those that have all the auto distance features, remote control, etc. Just seems like more that could go wrong.

I can't remember the name of that company (the links on this forum somewhere) but you could always ask for one of those georgeous caddies to caddy for you on your birthday round! Half of Motherwell might be folowing you round Colville Park that day though haha!

Don't change any irons if there is any doubt in your mind. If you like what you've got stick with them.

My mate who is 54 just got a Freeway 2 as he said he was getting tired on the back 9 and he has never played any better. Pure white and the matching white bag but he is now slower getting round the course, plus he sets it for a distance and has often run into our trolleys

How about a week away golfing in spain...

get the trolley when you're 50 :)

golfbreaks.com would be a good place to start.

in five years time, when i ask the same question on here about what to get for my 40th... please reply with the same answer as i've given you.

andy, I can save you from yourself!

get one of these,
