Dundonald
After a few £3m spending on it.
Was some talk about the Scottish Open coming to Dundonald but not sure if it ever will. I also think it would be a cracking open venue.

Interesting,I really don't rate it as highly.Nice enough but doesn't have the wow factor for me.
I'm not certain that a 'Wow Factor' is actually what The Open is really about. Nothing at Muirfield, save maybe walking through the gates when there is no-one else there, really has what I would consider a 'wow' factor - at least not in the American style that 'Wow' implies.
For that sort of Wow Factor, Trump's place certainly looks a candidate. And RA (my Scottish pick) is heading that way - especially the earlier holes. A couple of the Northern Irish ones would be candidates too.
Dundonald might be a candidate, but would be behind the likes of Kingsbarns imo. I'm not particularly keen on obvious bulldozer created dunes though! Both would need lengthening/toughening and Dundonald would need something more than a Portakabin for a clubhouse!
Would probably agree with RCD, not so much because of infrastructure but because its just not a great 'viewing course.' However the Irish Open at Portrush had more spectators than this years Open over the whole four days. I was at both the Saturday/Sunday and transport etc was no problem at all.Royal Portrush is the one you are thinking of...it has held the Open once way back when however.
Don't think we'll ever see the Open back in Northern Ireland, infrastructure around both Royal County Down and Royal Portrush isn't strong enough.
Alright,I'll be a bit more blunt.
Dundonald isn't actually that great a golf course, nice enough but not worthy of holding a Scottish Open never mind The Open Championship.
Trump International.........
Take your pick from most classic links courses in the UK. Saunton East is a favourite of mine.
If we are talking links courses only, then i 100% agree! cannot wait to play there on Sunday in the mens open, even if i wont break 90![]()
Sam, see you down there, think little John is going as well. Are you stopping over on Saturday night?
