Hello all, I won a competition recently (35 points on Southport & Ainsdale) and the first prize was to play all courses at The Belfry which I am doing Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Has anyone played it recently? Wondered what it was like....and Im excited!!!

I played the Brabazon some weeks ago after doing some club testing for a golf magazine. The course was in magnificent condition but sadly after testing 32 rescue clubs I wasn't.

The greens were running at 11.5 which was pretty much European Tour speed and they were fabulous. Lots of water to contend with but would love to play it again when I could do it justice. The food was really good too as was the hotel and as we spent a whole day on the range in the Callaway bay I couldn't fault that either. Good shop too

Did lip out on the 18th for a birdie!

You will love it

Good luck

Chris

Jealous does not describe it!

Hoping to go next year for an away day/night with some mates but I fear we will end up going to Forest of Hard-on instead. (Not that it's too much of a comprimise!!)

I played it about 6 weeks ago and played the Brabazon. Being under a 10 handicap I can play off the whites and I've gotta be honest it was tough. 50-60yards longer on most holes. Incredible.
I'd play off the yellows next time though. The course was in fantastic condition and greens were like glass. It's by far the best course I've ever played. I loved the 10th hole, just spectacular.

Ive played the PGA National course at the belfry too and that was in great condition too but that was last year.

You will have a great time at the Belfry, just play off the yellows or prepare to really feel average on the course... :) :)

I liked the Brabazon but then I like to play iconic courses anyway. It is tough in place with plenty of aqua but a good challenge. THe National was pretty good too especially given the amount of traffic it has on it

The PGA National is a nice course too. Some interesting mounds! And acres of sand.....

The Derby is always thought of as the poor relation but really its not that bad, just not as good as the other 2.
