Thanks Fabian for a brilliant day out at your smashing Links. I cant think of a better place for a first whack of 2011.

A bright and dry day when I awoke meant that it was game on for Fabians invite down to Prestwick St Nicholas for a game with Andy, Andy Snr, Raymond (Bunkers), Jonny (JJF69) Donney (Fabians mate) and poor stuff from the days only call off who wimped out.

As I drove onto the A78 at Ardrossan I had a fair idea what lay in store for me when the wind buffeted the car big time! But being a brave soldier I ventured forth and after a quick cuppa and a legendary Fabian draw, (what a palavar!)it was onto the first tee. A balls up saw Andy and I take on Fabian and Andy Snr. Watching JJF69 knock one out of bounds off the first cheered me up no end, its always good seeing a scratch golfer making mistakes! :D :D

A mixture of some good bad and indifferent golf coupled with some steady golf from Andy saw us turn in 1 up however a sterling fightback resulted in a halved match. Andy and I hitting 4 irons into the second from about 130 yards was an indication of the wind!

Some good stuff played by everyone at times however it was clear by my shocking short game that I hadn't played for a couple of months.

Raymond who was out in game one had a full grown beard and a 6 course meal by the time we had finished.

Thanks again Fabian it was smashing and as usual the course was great.

No probs, Crawford it was a great day.

The wind was pretty tough and I am glad the second was played from the front tee as it aint much fun hitting driver and still short.

Some nice shots hit by everyone and credit to "Papa Smurf" with the three down the last to help half the game.

Looking forward to Machrihanish now after catching up with some of you again.

Glad to hear you guys managed a game ,still nowt here ,hope the course is open this weekend.Nothing like playing in a gentle breeze first game back ,its character building. :)

Echo what Craw said. Thanks Fabian, great way to start the golfing year. Course was in terrific nick considering the winter we have endured and that we are still in January!! Cheers to Donney and Jonny of the company on the way round. Finished in 2 hours 45 mins, a full 50 minutes before the other 4! Thought they had got lost! Good times...

Weather was "challenging" but was an excellent way to get rid of some of the rust that has built up over the last 6 weeks or so! Bring on the Mach!!
