LIV bad - TGL good......

now those are two opinions that would seem difficult to hold. All the other combinations seem to be more understandable.

Is it compatible. At least one is actual golf on a course playing against trying to win a tournament. The other is whacking a ball at a screen listening to golfers trying to have banter to make it seem like fun.

100% agree, LIV good - TGL bad is a viable choice (as you say), as is LIV good- TGL good (growing the game, new audience etc,), as is LIV bad - TGL bad (hate change, new fangled, ruining the tradition etc,) but supporting TGL whilst hating on LIV is a very odd stance.

If people like TGL, fair enough. I think it's absolute bobbins, other people think the same about LIV. Both are quite different viewing experiences to the PGAT - which I think is a dreadful watch outside a few good events, so the more options we have for watching golf, the better.

The mindset that I come across a lot of the time that the PGAT should be the only tour offering top level pro golf just bewilders me.

TGL is really enjoyable as long as you dont sit down expecting to watch proper golf.

I like it for what it is as an entertainment product.

I never care about who wins.

Donna and I have been watching for about the last 45 minutes. Trying hard to give this a fair shot. Repeat my previous comment about this would be better as edited highlights.

I think the commentary adds very little value.

What's the blooming "hammer" about? No idea about the scoring. Will have to Google!😉

Imagine this with a Peter Alliss or Andrew Cotter tonge in cheek type commentary? Would be hilarious. There's no engagement... or maybe it's not suited to non American ears.

Mind you, Keegan's stick on, joke moustache is a winner. Otherwise, still struggling to be engaged....

I start off fully invested then always seem to get less interested the longer it goes on.

I love that they are trying to do something different however does essentially watching golfers hit into a screen have long term appeal?

They're adding a ladies series next year - not sure that will generate many extra viewers.

Sim golf is boring to play - if I was going to list the environments I enjoy playing in it would be course, range, simulator - in that order, so it stands to reason that watching simulator golf won't have the same appeal as watching on a course.

Let's face it, it was created so people could watch Tiger hitting golf balls - and without him, it currently doesn't have the magic ingredient that will get casual fans to tune in.

Note, it only "stands to reason" if you are OK to assume that the general population shares your preferences

The most enjoyable thing about watching TGL is seeing the pros utterly bemused by the yardages on the simulator. The whole thing is very poor viewing, but I find it very interesting that they still use real grass indoors and don't use mats.

I watched highlights, and it was all putting. Which to me is the most boring part. I like the weird courses they can play, forcing accuracy and some creativity. Overall, as much as I enjoy sim golf with my friends, TGL doesn't tickle my fancy.

EDIT: the Bamberger article shared above is a cracking deadpan read. Much more fun than TGL itself haha. Quite shocking to read that: a ticket starts at 250 dollars, and they are actually selling quite a few tickets, if not actually selling out the full 1500 seat stadium.
