Agree with Korda

A missed opportunity to have a league with mixed teams
I watched it this afternoon and thought it’s the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen.
It was like watching it’s a knockout with hammers and stuff being thrown.
Not for me whether it’s men, women or celebrities.

Next time I would rather keep Bargain hunt on

There were tickets available up to a few hours before kick off last night. An arena that holds 1500 people, with The Masters winner present playing golf, and they struggled to sell it out.

I really don't know what purpose it's supposed to be serving tbh...

If on a rainy midweek midwinters night someone wants to watch some golf, they could do a lot worse than watching the R&A YouTube channel and watch the Amateur Championship - if you go a couple of years back you’d likely not know the winner, so the fact it’s not ‘live’ wouldn’t make any difference to your enjoyment and the tension down the stretch

Pick a year where it’s at a course you’ve played yourself and watch every minute of it!

Either that or watch the monstrosity that is TGL..😵‍💫🤯😱

Wasn’t it something like 4 tickets available? At $200 a pop that’s not too bad.

It’s a little bit sad that you have actually look at the ticket site considering how uninterested you are in TGL.

Maybe they should employ the liv tactic of only making a small number of tickets available, giving them away then claiming to be a sell out! Then, by some miracle making more available next year and claiming a 100000% increase in ticket sales 🤣

Some of us just like to do some research before posting opinions.

re. the "what's it for?" question.
My own pet theory is that people with money have seen how much the franchises for the major US sports are worth and want some of the action. Because of the cartel structure of these leagues, it's not possible to do a Wrexham, and they are showing no signs of wanting to dilute the wealth by creating new franchises. So the only way to create new franchises is to create them in new sports leagues. Like Pickleball (I kid you not..), TGl etc. Of course, what they are choosing to ignore is that no-one cares about any of this new stuff. But that doesn't stop them dreaming. Think of them as the rich person equivalent of those weird on-line monkey things...

I really don't see why some people make such a big deal about telling everyone else how rubbish TGL is. Does it matter? I only watched a few at the start. It was OK for a one off watch, but I've not bothered watching it since. I felt there were plenty of other things it could have done to make it more appealing, and it'll probably polish itself up if it lasts any amount of time.

But, it is simply just another golf related activity that features over the winter period, which is pretty much the off season. Most of the players would probably have been putting their feet up, and we wouldn't see them for a few months. So this just gets them out of the house and puts them in front of the cameras a few more times. There are so many things on youTube and TV that I find mind numbingly boring, yet other people absolutely love it. No doubt there are some TGL nutjobs out there, who can't get enough of it. Time will tell if it will last, and it won't if it makes financial losses I guess.

I believe the target audience is meant to be "younger, tech-savvy" people. It is probably aimed more at the trash talking mashed potato brigade. I'm not sure there are many regulars in this golf monthly forum that fit this profile, so perfectly reasonable to believe many of us won't take to TGL so easily.

I’ve got it on in the background while I’m working from home. One way to stop me being distracted!

They definitely missed a trick not having it as mixed. That would definitely make it something totally different.

TGL is just as boring as all other American sports. US viewers seem to get interested in franchise TV shows, so it's a well trodden path. Feels a bit soul-less to a European viewer brought up on historic rivaries across traditional sports. But then there is a large demographic across the world who lap up anything American, however terrible it is.
