I honestly don’t get it,but millions of people watch others playing fortnite & I don’t get that either 🤔
Watching someone’s game stream is totally different. In a lot of cases, it’s watching better players to learn from them.

There is zero to be learnt from watching someone hitting a ball from a sandpit pretending they are in a bunker. 😂

What’s the difference between a sandpit and a bunker?

It’s always amazing how closed minded some people are to how others might view something. “It’s new and I don’t like it so nobody else will.” 😂
Indoor/simulator golf is growing fast, and is already a big thing in some parts of the world, Korea for example. There are quite a few indoor clubs open in London now too.

Viewing figures are already strong and I’m sure the organisers will be looking at how the events and formats can be tweaked to make it more entertaining for those interested in watching.

Having Good Good and other golf influencers big it up is a good move, but Good Good and BDS etc., are consistently across their channels, so viewers 'like' (or otherwise) those characters - that's why guests generally do well, because they're contributing rather than carrying the product. The move would have been having a golf youtuber on each team - there's certainly enough of them.

The Kisner moment, a mistake, has went 'viral'; Tiger laughing close up for 7 minutes as a result was a bit weird but, from episode 2 (assuming it's light entertainment), this is the highlight. I don't mind it overall, I'll watch the repeat / highlights, hoping it get better. The real turf and Augusta sand is also a bit gimmicky and unnecessary..... trying to make the indoor golf more real but this could be achieved by playing outside - which isn't what it's about (but it is 'real' golf?).

Tbf that’s pretty much the theme of this thread.
The few positives I’ve seen are from people using it to have digs at LIV.
I can guarantee that if it was Bryson,Brooks,Westwood & the other LIV players doing this, people would have a different opinion on it.
I am not sure that it is digs.

LIV is certainly real golf - real golfers, real golf courses - whereas TGL is TV show only, with an incidental sporting flavour.

The comparison is valid though in the respect that both have a sense of going through the motions, with the supposed winning of the events being essentially meaningless and worthless in a sporting sense.
Which is not to say there are not immense financial returns for the participants and the businesses behind them. But both the history of golf tournaments, and the personal achievement CVs of the players, are unaffected by their involvement in either venture.

Certain people perceive this as competition to LIV. On this thread most of the criticism is from people who are contractually obliged to attack anything to do with the PGA tour as part of their LIV influencer program.
Certainly.
Were it LIV golfers playong TGL, the standard LIV script would have been transposed readily : its new ! its something different ! it attracts a whole new youth audience repelled by the old formula of four round strokeplay ! its on primetime TV ! its technologically innovative ! its catching the wave of pals playing launch monitor simulator golf at home ! it adds a human character to the players beyond automatons hardly even interracting with their caddies !

But in the 4 legs good 2 legs bad type dogma LIV PR handbook, they cannot say that.

Were there LIV golfers playing TGL, at least there would be a few more personalities. However, the format would still be terrible.

I guess the LIV fans are going at it because it’s linked to Woods and Rory and both have very anti LIV

It’s something completely different and a couple weeks old

Guess it gives the LIV fans something to talk about whilst their own tour is fast asleep at the moment and the level of “recruits” is near bottom of the barrel

Disagree, the only positives are from the anti LIV brigade imo.

And could that be why you’re sticking up for it?

Remember you use to take every opportunity to have pops at Tiger before LIV came along 🤔

To be fair, Cantlay and the shot clock could be peak entertainment....
Actually this reminded me of the one thing I REALLY liked about it. If the PGA Tour found a way to implement the NFL style 40 second shot clock I would be 100% in favour. Can the guy wandering round with the sign with each group be given a digitally enhanced sign that doubles up as a shot clock?

Maybe have some sort of shock connected to them so when they are over 40 seconds it shocks them

Anyone seen the documentary showing on Sky Sports about the making of the Boston team and the creation of the league?
It starts off behind the scenes with Rory, Hatton, Bradley and Adam Scott, aswell as the movers and shakers.

Got to say, the doc is far more interesting than the product...

More of a feature length advertisement than a documentary.
