I don't really think it is in reality, it's just something to do in winter when courses are shut and/or the weather is too bad to get out and have a proper game.

I genuinely don't know anyone or any groups who go out for an organised "game" on a simulator, I've never heard anyone even talk about it. No mention at the club, no mention in whatsapp groups, nothing ever. I've been abroad where courses are officially shut down for a few months and there are indoor simulators with a little bar, these are used exclusively by a handful of really keen players who need their fix while everyone else does other things, maybe a pro is giving lessons, then these places have absolutely zero business as soon as the courses and ranges open up again.

If Rory and Bryson are going head to head down the stretch in a real tournament, I'm all over it. Rory and Bryson in a simulator? Who cares

And right now the weather is crap and people are playing simulators , the ones near us are always busy in the evening - it’s a more relaxed atmosphere

We have been to our new one 4 times since it opened in October - twice when the course is shut and twice for an evening out with a few beers etc

Look at how busy things like Top Golf are as well

Simulators at golf clubs seems popular, specially in the winter when courses are closed and obviously for lessons and fitting purposes they are needed. Simulator places that are designed for a "night out" seem to go bust all the time, Top Golf does seem popular but you're hitting at an actual target there rather than just blasting a ball into a screen.

I think there is a distinction between playing on a simulator, and watching people play on a simulator though. My daughter loves Topgolf and the games you get on trackman like magic pond and scrapyard. In the winter I'd play on a simulator and was thinking about getting a setup for home, but I don't think either of us would be interested in watching others play on a simulator for more than about 5 mins. Which makes this seem like it doesn't particularly appeal to traditionalists or a new audience.

The concept is there though, I think it just needs a bit of tweaking. If they could make it more like a compact course in a stadium or on a driving range, perhaps with interesting obstacles/challenges (like the glass smashing shots and suchlike you get on social media) it would probably have more appeal to wider demographics.

Guess we will just see how it goes - the issue because it’s broadcast in the evening then it’s really only the US that will get the benefit which isn’t a surprise

Well if it's relying on the personalities of the world's top golfers it'll be dead and buried before it's got off the ground. They are, without doubt, a very boring bunch of characters. It takes a special type of personality to dedicate their lives to hitting balls and practicing for 8 hours a day week after month after year...

It might not work over here but there will be enough "Getintheholers" over there who'll lap it up.
It's on Sky from 2am here so hardly anyone in the UK is going to watch it live anyway...

It’s going to appeal to some , and prob mainly those from across the ocean with a short attention span

Some may get behind certain teams etc

I'm an avid golf watcher (mainly PGA Tour and majors. with the occasional DP Tour event if I happen to be home and it's on) but I can't for the life of me think how anyone would find this indoor league remotely interesting.

They're just hitting into a simulator, trying to create faux excitement about these new "teams". Ooohh some guys playing for LA in a simulator against some guys representing a millionaire's playground in Florida, woopee doodle doo...

Any time you can watch a bunch of first-class touring Pros swing a club has got to be educational.

I think that it beats watching reruns on the CW or SKY any day. It hasn't been televised and yet you're pretty sure that it's trash.........now that's troubling. IMO

I think it's very much going to be a "record it and zip through" job, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. It depends how wacky the made-up courses are, to be honest. Let's have, like 40mph winds and giant windmills or something
