Tesla 3

Are they all that big and if so, why?

Not all are that big but you get various sized information screens

Sat nav is a key bit
Entertainment selection
With electric cars you will have all the information about current driving and how far you will get from your charge

And the internet I presume?

No. You can normally use your voice to control searches for addresses and to play a song.. but you can’t watch a movie or browse the net... in cars that you can it’s automatically shut off as soon as the car moves.

A screen like that is common in modern cars. Just looks more jazzy because it’s telsa

Everyday is a school day.
Puts my 7in screen to shame.

The Model S is a 17” screen. It’s incredible, especially when using Google Maps for navigation

Mate at work has an Audi Q5 and his dashboard is all a computer and his sat nav can take over half the screen with Speedo on other half

It just seems too big a distraction from the priority of watching where you're going...... which actually explains a lot of the driving I see on the roads today

Toyota do a hydrogen car. At present, there are 3 sites in the UK where you can fill it up. One is in Hendon. Has a range similar to petrol. Trouble is you can only drive near Hendon.

Last I heard there were about 26 filling stations. Still not enough, but with Hyundai, Kia and Toyota pushing this, I can see the infrastructure growing quickly.

I know, I looked it up.
How big does the screen need to be when the voice tells you where to go.

The voice part is awful on a sat nav. I have mine always off and I like to quickly look at the screen to see the road layout and which route / turning is mine . Visualise it

You do need to see the roads, I agree, as the voice does not always get across the complexity of certain layouts.

So just heard on the news that this is likely to be closer to £50k when it arrives in the UK. Wouldn’t bother looking at that price.

If it’s over 40k I won’t be touching it

Not when the Nissan Leaf is perfectly acceptable at under 30k

I couldn't imagine spending that sort of money and ending up with such a bland car as the Nissan Leaf.
Have you been inside one? They are very high tech because all electric

30k gets you not much these days.. even Hondas are that now days

Dont know why anyone would want to pay over £40k for an electric car, when that takes it into the high road tax band of silly money each year.
That’s exactly why I wouldn’t get one.. £150 tax is a enough

When I got my hybrid about 7 years ago I got road tax £0

Was a shock when I traded in for a new car last year now £150 lol sod paying £400 or whatever it is that’s almost another insurance
