anyone else have a range where the matts are either really bumpy and rock solid or slid around the place gradualy when you are playing. yesterday i was playing and decided to take out my driver not realising the matt had gradualy moved and sure enough my follow through smashed off the metal bar between bays. thankfully only took a bit off paint off the club and im getting a new driver this week, but if that had of been my new driver i would have freaked regardless

Fortunately the two ranges I frequent have decent enough mats. To be honest I stopped using another one as thw mats made any feedback about ball striking neglibile and I was worried about damaging my clubs

i normally wouldn't go to this particular range but my club has a deal with them we get 2 hours unlimited balls for 8 euros while we get coaching from our club pro on sat and mon night so a good deal for all party's considering im careful when using my driver

The range I use has mats that are enclosed in a plastic frame. There are three sections, the outer and inner are normal mat surface but the centre one is filled with a gel substance that gives feedback just like turf, if you hit it fat you will get the same result as grass.

here is the website for them: www.truestrike.com

range quality vary so widely - my closest one is not great the automatic devises constantly break down and are gradually been faded out, you have to search the bays for the rubber tees to put through the mats as well - get the impression they bought he automatic ball feeders as opposed to leasing and costs of maintaining proving an expense they do not want, also on Sunny days in the morning you cannot see where the balls land - much prefer the one at delapre where well maintained no sun blinding at any time of day and longer opening hours.
