Chaps.
Currently have the Burner 10.5 in stiff and the local shop have a deal on a lightly used R11 for £150
I want to try an extra stiff shaft (i guess that is the X?) and a slightly lower loft although it can be adjusted up a little if required?
I've got a pretty fast swing on the driver so think the X shaft may be a good choice? Any views or do you have this club and is it worth upgrading?

thanks for the reply.
R11 has X shaft which I assume is extra stiff?
No I don't know my swing speed yet. I am guessing it is quite fast.
I am being fitted soon at Mizuno for irons so should find out then.

There won't be much call for X flex drivers, so the sell on price will be low. That's why it's cheap.

The guy who part x'ed it must have got about £70 for it.

Just be careful that you dont get a bad unnecessary experience matey, not all stiff shafts are the same. weights, kickpoints etc can mean you range from a perfect feeling swing/feel to the opposite end where you feel like you should be building scaffold with it.

agree with Brendy here, reason I was asking was for the name of the shaft as some stiff shafts are really stiff and some are quite flexible, kick points vary etc etc and all this makes each shaft behave in completely different ways.
I believe your SS needs to be in excess of 120mph to get any use out of an Xtra stiff.

Try them though, its all in the feel at the end of the day

I tried a Nike VR 9.5 with an X rated voodoo and it was too stiff giving me a lack of both height and distance. I have quite a fast swing speed and hit the stiff voodoo very well, however I'd rather step down to a regular shaft than up a level to an x rated shaft.

The other thing is with an x rated shaft if you don't have an exceptionally fast swing you will need to fully commit to every shot whereas with a standard or stiff shaft you can just give it a nice swing and let the club do the work

The standard shaft in the R11 is the Fujikura Blur. If it is a TP model, it is a 'real' Blur, but of not a TP model a 'made for' Blur.

An X flex version of the real Blur (in a TP) would probably need a swing speed of 110mph or higher, with the made for Blur, a bit less, say 105. But it is not just about swing speed, it is also about weight, feel and the type of flight it gives you. Only way to know is to demo it, preferably with a launch monitor.

I'd also add to Ethan's point that with an X stiff shaft you really need to have a fit or test with proper balls. Range balls won't give you a totally accurate picture.
