Just made a round of tea for 11 people in the office. Surely a record and perhaps should secure me exemption for a few weeks?

Good work Mike - I hope you did choccy biccies as well!

I've discovered a crafty ploy to get out of making the tea.

I bought a filter coffee machine and a mini fridge which I keep in my office.
I brew up a big jug in the morning and leave a load of clean cups next to the machine. I offer everyone who comes in a coffee before they sit down and they invariably pour it themselves but seem to leave with the vague impression that I've made it for them. :D
Works a treat. :D
They then go to our other sites and complain that the coffee they're offered ain't as good as mine.

I must admit I'm not the most prolific tea maker in the office but there are worse (ahem Jezz).

the best one is Roderick our freelance sub who drinks about 10 cups a day so he is always on the case

Here's a tea making tip...

If you're making a cup o' tea with sugar, always put the sugar in with the tea bag before you pour the water on. It means it dissolves into the water as the kettle is being poured. There's nothing worse that taking sugar in tea, only to discover it's all sitting at the bottom of the cup un-stirred and doing nothing to the flavour of the tea whatsoever.

How to get out of making tea....

Dont wash the cups up properly, once the tea is made it has a broken skin on the top. A few rounds of them and they'll never ask you to make it again.

I gave up on tea rounds at work a long time ago, its much better being your own tea/coffee man, you don't get lazy sods or poor brews, it’s a win win situation and you can practice your golf swing in the kitchette.

Tea making is an Art.

What I really hate being in the no sugar camp is when people stir my tea after that of someones who does take sugar, with out rinsing the spoon first.

Dont like sugar in regular tea whatsoever, yuk.

My pet hate with tea is people who put too much milk in and make it like dishwater, thats just rank.

I absolutely love Turkish teas, I drink them black with a pinch of sugar and it really is nice.

Also partial to a nice cup of earl grey, black.

I love my tea strong, another thing that really bugs me is when people put the milk in with the tea bag waiting for the kettle to boil. One of the lads at our place does it all the time even though I ask him not too, its because he cant be bothered to wait untill afterwards and do it properly.

It just never brews right, no matter how much you dunk the tea bag in and out!

I have a little milk in the cup whilst the kettle is boling, when its boiled the tea bag goes in follwed straight away by the water. Let this brew for 5 mins so its nice and strong but not to hot. No sugar, its horrid. Now you have the perfect cup of tea :D.

tea making is an art form indeed!

The key to a perfect cup is to put a TINY bit of milk in with the teabag. Not enough to cool the water, but enough to settle the tannins down so you don't get a scum. Then once the tea is nice and strong you can add milk to taste.

The perfect cup of tea does not exist. It is revolting muck invented to allow people to drink contaminated water out of rivers that people upstream had done unmentionable things in. Now we have tap water, there is no excuse for it. Or coffee.

Beverages should be drunk cold, like beer. In fact, beer is by far the best drink ever invented.
