What is a flex A in taylormade driver stand for?

It will be more flexible than a R (regular), so notionally suited to a slower swing speed. (there's a lot more to shafts so this is crude explanation)

A stands for Active flex. At one time it was called M flex by TaylorMade (mature player presumably). TaylorMade obviously do not like the connotations of 'Senior'.
