Taylormade Rocketbladez

I agree. Top bloke and he cuts through all of the BS that marketing departments come out with but still gives an honest review. I think in this case he is saying that it is a decent iron but all they seem to have done is call it a 6 iron when most other manufacturers would class it as a 5 iron from the shaft length and face angle. And it sounds a bit strange.

Strangely enough I got a second hand 19 degree MX700 at the weekend and I compared it with my Rocketballz 19 degree hybrid (that I can't get on with). And the Rocketballz shaft was about 3/4 inch longer. Which is fine, but I am a bit sceptical of all the claims of extra yards being down to the club head when some of it is due to lengthening the shafts, which as Mark points out, makes it harder to control the ball. Especially for happy hackers who clubs like this are mostly aimed at.

It's all a big sham. TM claim the Rocketbladez 6i flies 10yds further than an AP2 6i and the the slot has something to do with this. The TM 6i has the same loft and shaft length as an AP2 5i (in fact it's half a degree stronger).

My AP2 5i flies 12 yds further than my AP2 6i, but my AP2 5i doesn't have the speed slot so how is this possible...I guess it must be to do with the loft and length but I'm no expert ;)

Nah it couldnt be that simple! haha.

I dont know what everyone is getting so animated over them, the rocketbladez irons are whopper game improvement irons, it is a bit unfair to compare apples and oranges when they have also released a players version being the TP model which bears more resemblance to the likes of the AP2 etc. Callaway do this every year with their X range then also release forged irons etc, noone is moaning about that?
Its called choice, hackers are allowed a choice too and TM are cashing in on it!

I don't disagree with that Brendy, you shouldn't compare GI irons with better player irons....but that's exactly what TM are doing on their website which is why they are getting shot at. The problem for me is the marketing of "The Speed Slot". They appear to be going overboard on it's brilliance yet they leave it out of the 8 & 9 irons

I am actually interested to see what claims they make for the Tour version vs equivalent irons, I might even go and give them a bash when they come out just to see what all the fuss is about.

Never seen anything by Mark Crossfield and despite a lot of guys on here raving about him I've never really felt compelled to watch him either.

But back to the op. I've seen a few images online of the Tour version of these irons and I have to say I think they look quite nice, obviously I'm only going by images but they look less chunky than the regular model and look sleeker.

Wouldn't mind a whack myself, but have to say there are other irons I'd probably want before them

just watched a you tube clip from Rick Shiels at trafford golf centre hes just knocked a rocketbladz 7 iron 200, 188, 188 does say length and loft are near 6 iron standard but eevn so a 6 iron 200 is pretty long!

Makes interesting viewing - it's a shame he didn't use an iron quoted on Tm's site, adjusted that to the same spec and tested it.

From what I've seen I won't be rushing out to buy a set of Rocketblades, I'm starting to like the look of the Ping i20 and i25 range. I hit a ping iron that belonged to Hovis (forum member) and I loved it, if your reading was it a i20 mate?

Clearly going to be in a minority here, but I like the clubs (even bought them). I take all of the valid points about lofts being jacked up, but the two differences that I have noticed against my RAZR x are:
1. Ball flight. The ball flies higher, despite the lower loft. They ball therefore comes down steeper.
2. Forgiveness. Off centre towards the toe, the loss of distance is maybe 10-15%
Perhaps these changes are all mental, or because the clubs fit my bad swing a bit better, but hey I'll take it!

I picked up a set of these (5-PW) brand new for £290. To me they aren't as chunky as everyone claims, they are actually the same length but smaller club face to my previous set. I am hitting them further (obviously because of the lofts), but the ball flight still compares the same to my previous clubs. I agree with Mark that it's more of a mental/confidence thing as I reckon I was kidding myself on how long I could hit my previous clubs. But they are very forgiving, I can actually see the flight correcting itself when I slice/hook them. They also feel really nice when you hit the ball, I wouldn't go as far as saying like forged irons, but deffinately better than traditional cast steel.

That's toooooop cheap, are they real

Please don't tell me they were ordered via t'interweb at that price

Yes they're real. Verified by American golf. Just shows there are deals to be had...

Worth every penny for him, I've seen him hit his 5 iron 200 yards.

I'm really disappointed to have read all this but I'm glad I did!! I've been to try them twice but the machine never works at our American Golf store. I wanted to compare them to my di9s which I think already go pretty far (for my swing) anyway. What I don't understand is why TM have simply called a 3i a 4i when most of us have ditched our 3i for a recovery. Are they hoping we buy another one to replace the new 4i we won't be happy with as it's actually a 3?

Your di9s already come with strong lofts but the rocketbladez are slightly stronger. in some of the longer clubs. they should be fairly similar in a direct test I'd have thought.

Good morning guys, I recorded data from the rocket blades. I demoed the rocketblades and must say they felt very good for a game improving iron of its size. On the test each club gave good distance, and I did not find any club going to far. Please take a look at the post and see for yourselves.

Ok it did fly very high(but that was expected)

Those moaning about the stronger lofts should also remember that GI/SGI irons will launch higher and be more likely to balloon so it isn't a direct distance comparison between identical lofts on all clubs.
