Taylormade Rocketbladez

I always enjoy Mark Crossfield videos, he says it as he sees it but still doesn't rubbish anything much.
Totally agree with this. I enjoy everything MC does. He does what the mags do not. we know the mags get paid for reviewing gear and they never say anything bad about anything. TM do have a knack of over inflating all their offerings. Yes we know all new clubs are the furthest straightest etc. TM though take this to a new level.

Those moaning about the stronger lofts should also remember that GI/SGI irons will launch higher and be more likely to balloon so it isn't a direct distance comparison between identical lofts on all clubs.

unfortuantately for every thread of explanation discussing loft, length and launch angle there are 3 (or more) in line with many posts on this one.

I don't have an answer to the question 'what makes a 6 iron a 6 iron?', but I would suggest that it's launch angle (for any given set of constants, preferably associated with it's target market if it has one) has at least as much validity as it's loft, or shaft length.

So, can TM call their 6 iron a 6 iron? Nothing seems to scream that it isn't. Can their marketing department compare it to other 6 irons? Yep, that's what marketing does; it chooses comparisons that make their product look good inthe eyes of their target market. Should buyers make their own comparisons? Of course!

its funny because at the bottom of taylormade site, the page with the rocketbladez irons

there is a option for you to compare a rocketbaldez 6 iron to its competitors

unfortunately i could not select an mp60 iron to compare it up against, seeing the distance i could gain :(

but luckily i managed to find the specs for the respective clubs, i agree with taylormade nothing compares to a rocketbladez 6 iron, not even my 5 iron :D

no offensive to taylormade boys i think they make good gear, i've had some myself in the past, and might buy some in the future, i just find their marketing funny

marketing bs aside, i went to try them out today as my callys have served their purpose and re shafting is going to cost a bomb and be a pain

I played these and a callaway razor x forged, and as much of a callaway fan as i am and wanted the x forged to be the one, the rocket bladez won, longer shaft was easier for a man of my height, the 2 felt almost the same on well struck shots, i personally found work ability the same on both and distance wise the rocket bladez was a tad further than the xforged plus the rocket bladez are cheaper to.

this is my opinion of my findings on the range today, so please dont have a hernia if you dont like what ive posted i dont give a toot about jacked lofts etc... i care about what works for me and value for money

R1 down to £250 at DG....

Must be hard for anyone who rushed out and bought new first week.....

Are they on Blow-out already?

I know TM have a reputation for chucking new stuff out but can DG really be trying to clear stock already?
If not, why the huge discounts?

Or is it that the TM gear isn't selling as well as predicted.....?

I see the TP is still at £350, £250 is a good price, just shows it's all in the shaft

I don't think it's easy to draw any conclusions from this because we don't know what the margins were, whether there has even been a change or how the retailers price.

My impression is that all golf retailers now want to discount to RRP once a product becomes generally available so the question as to whether they are really discounting becomes hard to evaluate.

TM's only control is selective distribution but only one manufacturer has taken this route (Ping).

For everyone else the price becomes the lowest price that anyone is prepared to market and distribute to because so many people will buy on price and see a club, or clubs, as a simple commodity

Nope.

It's the weight of the head - at 263gms, within a gram or 2.

This is the one thing 'constant' about irons - and a 7-iron of 270gms etc.

Everything else is 'design'!
