I just wish that the manufacturers could do something more resilient, or go back to silver faces, given the price we pay for the kit.

Being brutally honest, what did you really expect from a coloured finish? Even the normal almost raw silver finish will mark up, but obviously any painted finish will show it more.
For that reason I wouldn’t play any club that’s been painted on the impact face.
