I've been thinking of another tattoo but am a little stuck about what to get. I've got a few ideas but the only cert is that my daughters name must be incorporated. I've been tempted to get the family crest (coat of arms is a little over the top) but dont know whether to ask someone arty to make it more modern or leave it traditional.

I've got other ideas about what could go into the design (Music, sport etc) but I'm just not that arty.

Has anyone had any work done lately and has it been traditional, modern, cheesy, discreet, over the top etc.......I'm in need of inspiration

I would go for a tattoo of the Mona Lisa on your rear end, so that her enigmatic smile turns into a broad grin when you sit down

Big fan of tattoos here. Currently working on ideas for a full sleeve on my right arm, I really like the artwork that incorporates biblical history themes just think they look quite dramatic and cool, though that doesn't tend to go down well with my mum and her side as they're all devout catholics (good job I don't follow that trend though)

Latest one I got done when I was in Florence for a family wedding back in June/July. Went for a cross with wings and to lines of scripture on the back of my neck/upper back. The sleeve I want to be arty and meaningful but also to include some reference to my 2 kiddies whom I don't get to see as often as i'd like.

Be interested to hear/see what you decide on.

I know a guy who had some done on his forearms years and years ago.
Now, he really really really regrets having them done.

I understand why some people had them in the past......to make them stand out from the crowd, to be different.
Is that still the case or are they just a fashion statement?

When I see someone with their kids names tattooed on themselves I can help but think "they must have a terrible memory" ;)
Not saying they are wrong.....just not for me thank you.

I have a couple.

I have a full Japanese sleeve and chest piece over one side an a tribal piece that pretty much covers my back. I have a smaller one (Lion colourd Union Jack) on the other arm that will be incorparated into my next half sleeve.

Whatever you decide, make sure you get it right as it's there for a long time!

Never understood tattoos or why folks wear t-shirts in subzero temps to show 'em off. Footballers: so much to answer for....

Thinking about it, I can't recall any visible tattoos on any golf tour. Bet Natalie Gulbis has a few under wraps.

A French chap on tour has one, can't remember his name though.

Well both Seve and Trevino had/have tattoos.

Of the current crop of pro's I'd be willing to be a few have then but just have them placed so not always visible. Just by pure numbers you'd expect at least a few to have them.

It’s a free country and I fully support freedom of choice, but personally I hate them, especially on women. I just do not understand the desire for this self mutilation. I suspect most will live to regret having them in years to come

It was a post war fad that seemed to go out of fashion in the 70 and 80s and for some strange reason has been revived again

im currently 3/4 of the way through the sleeve on my right arm. i highly recommend you hunt down and study a artist and make sure there capable of getting done what you want done. any good artist will listen to your ideas and and make them come to together.
the last piece i had done i looked around for a few months and got them to draw up different designs until i found the one i was looking for.

its been done over a panther tattoo i had done 10 years earlier at the top.

the solider is my little boy (daddys solider) the princess is my daughter (dadays little princcess) mixed in with a royal flush along with their names and birth dates and the words 'The Nuts for life' the nuts in poker is the best hand and means iv been dealt the best hand with my kids (poker is my other love in life :) )

my left arm is also nearly complete too and in tattoos you pay for what you get. i learnt this when i had 3 simple stars tattooed on me and its utter rubbish and embarrassing and now i have to pay again to get it done by a better artist.

I have no tattoo's myself, have thought about it, but I don't want to get one for the sake of it. Any tat I get will have to have meaning and be a memory of something, someone, or an important event.

Kev, I see in your avatar that you're from Newcastle, have you heard of a guy called Martin Couley? His ink work is phenominal a very good artist. I've seen some of his art work and you would think the pieces had been drawn on paper not someones skin. The only reason I know of him, is that he lives over the back street from wor lasses parents.

Not being funny here but the Roulette wheel isn't round.

I've got one that covers a 3rd of my back and my bro owns a tattoo shop in Sutton Coldfield (Birmingham) which has contributed to 90% of the Aston Villa's squads artwork LOL

Take a look some outstanding artists working there

Tattoos. Not for me. I can never decide what to get. Some days I think I'll get the kid's names tattooed across my chest but then the next day I decide to get a CPFC emblem done. Then I decide to get something else done. All of that is a recipe for disaster!
Also, I spent 37 years trying bloody hard to avoid anything that will cause me pain (except supporting the Palace.....) so why would I pay someone to hurt me?

Additionally, I've never met anyone who hasn't regretted having their tattoos done. That's enough to put me off.

Oh, one more thing - women and tattoos - that would be the BIGGEST no!
