I'm going to Thailand to play golf soon, and I was planning on taking my clubs.

However, I'm not too sure how I take my clubs across there.

Do I get a travel bag and take clubs in them, but what do I do with my cart bag?

Do i just wrap up my cart bag and keep clubs in that?

James

Your bag together with clubs fit in the travel bag. I suggest to check to see if you can hire a cart at the course. Or forget the cart bag and take a stand bag

You can get a golf travel bag its a large zip up bag you can put your bag & clubs into & zip it up closed then . did you check price of bringing the clubs ??? im traveling over to forrest of arden in oct its something like €175.00 for myself & herself including the clubs .. €80 of that is for the clubs & thats just dub to birmingham .. might be cheaper to rent over there .. just a suggestion ..

It may be cheaper to rent.

it's like £10 to rent clubs at some of the courses along the pattaya strip. so if is goign to cost me too much I will just do that.

I've seen hire clubs before, If your happy with something that looks like its been in an attic for 20 years and couldn't sell at a car book sale, then go ahead. If your playing serious golf, take your own

Check with your airline, simple as that.

Hire clubs are usually crap, so take your own if you can. But, cost of Travel bags and airline charges etc wont be cheap, but hardly likely to be more than hiring a few sets out there.

If you are taking your own clubs always check them before you leave the airport. I came back from Portugal last year and got home to find the shaft and head of my R9 had parted company - clean break ( which takes some doing). I rang the handling agents and they werent interested because I'd left the airport before reporting the damage. I had to claim on my Home Insurance. So always check and report any damage before you leave the terminal.

Based on when I travel with clubs, 20kg is not a problem.

I'm normally just under this limit with:

hard case
carry bag
full set of clubs (3 woods, 10 irons and putter)
tees, glove, markers, pitchmark repairer etc
towel
dozen balls
pair of shoes in shoebag
waterproofs
pair of shoes my my Mrs has thrown in as she has filled the other cases

Obviously a cart bag will be a bit heavier, but I doubt you will have a problem with the limit, although it can depend on the airline and how fussy they want to be.

While my travel bag is well padded, I often wrap a towel around the clubs in an interlinked way, to try and offer some extra protection.

I'd certainly never put the clubs into the travel bag on their own!
