Myself and Jan set off this morning through the wind and pouring rain to meet up with Region3 and RGDave for a knock around Gary's course. Armed with full waterproofs and umbrellas we arrived to find the course bone dry and although the sky promised the rain to come none did follow.
18 holes of dryness :)

I threw a tee up to pick teams and it selected Jan and Dave against myself and Gary.
Sadly for the opposition, Gary's home knowledge, helped along with a little help from yours truely meant the game came to an end early doors but still a good day was had by all.
I'd like to thank Gary for inviting us and to Dave and Jan for their company and hope Gary wins his match for the A team tonight.

P.S The club pro has an excellent taste in training aids :D

Thanks agin guys and look forward to the next one

Yes, thanks to Gary for the invite and Bob and Jan for making the day such a worthwhile trip.
I can't believe Gary was lined up for another 18!

A quick perusal of the scorecard does in fact show that Jan and I had a tough time against some quality opposition. Some 7 birdies and an eagle (with a better-ball score comfortably under par) it was quite a display....good shooting lads.
We were blessed with the weather and the famous windy conditions hardly materialised.

Thanks to all, it was really lovely to get such a smiley and warm greeting from 3 new faces after a long drive. (Long drive + RG? - not normally in the same post :o :D).

Extra thanks to Jan for choccy supplies, to Gary for his short game (never count any chickens?!) and Bob for some chair-tastic ideas for my swing!

Oh..

and one thing..

far from me to embarrass anyone..BUT..

Today, I witness something I've never seen before "live" on a Golf course. A quite superb full-iron-2nd-shot to a par 4 straight in the hole for an eagle.

Any takers? :)

Been back about an hour now after the second 18 and another meal (why didn't I just have a sandwich after the first game!) and would like to thank Bob, Jan & Dave for their company earlier today, it was very enjoyable lads and lasses.

Thanks also to Bob for a couple of tips that hopefully will have me hitting straighter (and higher) off the tee if I can work on it a bit.
Didn't do me much good in my second round though. Of the 11 :o

Thanks again, you're welcome back anytime.

What did you all think of the course?

Any takers?

It was a 6 iron Dave :)

Well played Gary. Now get down the range and get that driver flying.

Course was a pleasure. Interesting holes, good codition, good greens, but as I mentioned, the fuffy tees were my only observation.

Apologies for Jan, she's having internet problems so she may not be able to log on but she asked me to pass on her thanks too.
By the way, Happy Birthday :D

Problems all sorted, at last   :D

Gary thank you for your invite, and unlike some of us, two dinners will do you know harm :D

The course was in excellent nick, unfortunately my golf wasn't, sorry Dave. Unlike another participant,............

Hacking it round, taking care not to damage the course with too many strokes. :o  :D

Well played.

Great coffee, food looked pretty decent, Lovely day. Thank you.

Where next? :D

What did you all think of the course?

Great, I'll turn up again on another 36 hole day and hope the great Region3 gets tired now and again.

I liked the course. Same age as mine, similar green speed, not much water (thankfully) but one or two issues I can see (and remember) that remind me of mine. Nice "fair" par 3s, plenty of medium par 4s and nice to see a full compliment of par 5s, all of which I messed up. :D :D Although I had 6s on all but one, they were well designed with trees and ditches to make decisions important. I'd know what to do next time. Driver-wedge-wedge. :D

Good luck with your struggles on the 18th. I think you can get close enough with two long/irons hybrids and then scramble a par, bogey at worst. Or....do it the Bobmac way, driver over the tree, 8 iron to a putter's leather from the hole. :)

It's an away day for me, technically. Even if it is only 9 holes...and one of my former clubs. :D

Gary, I have a new user name for you.

Relentless.

Well played, ........ Again.

Thanks. It was steady rather than spectacular, shot 80.

Having said that though I think myself and Bob as a betterball were -4 gross after 6, half of which was down to Bobs holed 6 iron on our SI3!

The highlight of my round was having a go with Bobs 1 iron and hitting it in the air, even though it was towards a tree.

Club champs rd1 today, full of confidence, I'm sure I don't need to spell it out

Nothing to play for tomorrow now but will see how many places I can claw back. Target is top 10, I'm 15th overnight.
