I'm finding it hard to get hold of t-shirts that actually fit. It seems every time I pick one up (latest from Sainsbury) they look ok until I try to lift my arms, and then the material won't let your arm move. The arm hole arrangement just isn't loose enough to allow your arms to move comfortably. Anybody have a place/brand they know of that has plenty of room in the material around that arm/shoulder area?

Oversized is in at the moment, just get one a few sizes too big for you 👍

If we are talking about polo shirts for golf, then I too struggle with the "fit" around the shoulders and armpits being too tight.
I'm fairly slim, but to get one to fit across the shoulders it has to be large.
Some of those can be not broad enough across the shoulders that this pulls the short sleeves up making them too tight in this area for playing golf.
I can't go up a size from large, because that would leave so much material flapping around in the lower half of the garment making me look ridiculous.

Best ones that fit me properly recently were two Large Slazengers for £15 (yep, £7.50 each) from Sports Direct in the shop.
I really don't care that they are so cheap. More expensive ones won't help my scores on the course.

I heard a Yorkshire phrase as a boy, "What's in yer belly is more important than what's on yer back."

Have you tried Under Armour? I have a ridiculous number of their golf polos now. I'm a medium bit I find the fit on the loose-fitting size and extra stretchy so they're very comfortable for golf. I get them through County-Golf usually so still £20-25 per shirt, not bank-breaking at all.

Fashion is funny. I remember when I was a teen wearing baggy jeans and large t-shirts even though I was skinny as anything back then. As I got older I started wearing mediums as well-fitted became the fashion. Now some of the mediums are a little snug, and luckily as you say it looks like baggy is coming back around so maybe I should go back to buying large.

Yep, been in the Under Armour shop in the East Midlands Designer Outlet Centre loads of times. Bought nowt.

It's not the size that is the problem, I find that the area around the arm holes just fit too tight. I have plenty of old t-shirts that fit fine.....but are going to need replacing before too long. The arm holes in these newer ones just don't have a lot of space in them.....I get my arms about half way up and then the material binds. I mostly wear t-shirts for bed and at the gym. I'm always a bit cold so I wear thicker long sleeves the rest of the time.

Polo type shirts for golf always seem to fit fine around the shoulders.

That place is very very hit and miss. Been loads of times and thought that’s another hour I won’t get back. Then there’s days where I come away and think winner winner chicken dinner.

As per
Voyager EMH

Most of my golf polo shirts are Slazenger because they are loose fit as standard.

Other makes I have quite a few of for golf with a fairly loose fit are Lee Cooper (Sports Direct) and Easy (Matalan)

So you have wide shoulders and a narrow waist?
The solution is simple: just eat more pies.

I have a load of Nike Dri Fit Polos, they have some give, colours are pretty nice and arent the most expensive shirts out there. IMHO dont pluck as easy as Adidas etc when you do venture into the erm.... undergrowth.

I don't seem to have any trouble with standard Polo type shirts.....plenty of give in the arms. I'm after t-shirts.....with sleeves that don't bind in the arms if you actually try to raise your arms. I don't really want to go to the gym and get on the weights and cardio equipment in a polo shirt......I'd have to learn to speak posh.

If it's for the gym, try Nike running tops. The very thin polyester material ones. I use them on holidays, help me sweat less 😯. Nice and loose fitting, very easy around the arms.

You can get UA and Adidas ones but I find the Nike ones are best. Best places for them are either the outlet places, is York your nearest?, or Sports Direct.

There are standard Dri Fit Tees as well. :)
