Does anybody on the forum use a metronome for swing and putting rhythm as i'm thinking of the small investment to build the swing over winter.
Over to you all, thoughts please.

Phil.

The book "Swing Like A Pro" by Ralph Mann & Phil Griffin advocates the use of a metronome for swing tempo. It is one of the best golf tuition books around if you want to know the mechanics of the golf swing in detail. It confirms the teaching methods of the modern teaching pro's.

I've not tried a metronome for putting but can only say great things about a certain v-easy product especially if you try and use a balance rod too. I took it to the putting ground and gathered quite a crowd and it was amazing how many players (including single figures) aren't balanced when putting

Anyone interested in a copy please PM. You'll need to send me a blank CD and a stamped addressed envelope (it cost £1 to post it to Faldo-fan) as I haven't got any CD's left and I can't afford to supply everyone. PM me and I'll send you my address

As a typical Scotsman I like things cheap, but hope you do not get caught for copyright / copying issues. Or am I missing something from the download. Can see the headline now " Homer Jailed over copyright" ;)

I am getting on well with the CD, there are 3 swing speeds and it appears the slowest one suits me best.
I usually play it whilst driving in the car (drives HID nuts) just to ingrain the beat then i can hear the 1-2-3 beat in my head when i'm on the practice ground.
Whilst i have put it on my i-pod i'm not going to use it while swinging as i think i may start trying to match my swing to the sound in my ears rather than just add the correct tempo to my swing.
I think Homer and i agree that neither of us has 'natural rhythm' so for the dancers/singers amongst you it should be a piece of cake!!!! :D

Just being a bit boring and mentioning the legal side. :)

In respect of rhythm my pro had me counting 1, 2,3 while practicing. One when I started swinging, 2 when I changed direction and 3 on the follow through. A bit harder than it sounded at first.

Order the following book from Amazon - Tour Tempo by John Novosel and John Garrity.
It is a superb book and gives you a clear introduction to finding your natural tempo.
Highly recommended.

I've not got the book but will have a look at it. Whatever happens don't let Faldo_fan and myself anywhere near a dancefloor at any forum meet as we have no rhythm and to coin a phrase "it'll be murder on the dancefloor"

I saw a David Leadbetter drill once that is designed to promote better rhythm and tempo. On the range line up half a dozen balls in a line spaced about 4-6 inches apart. Take your stance over the 1st ball and hit as you would normally with something like a 7 iron. Then without stopping hit the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc You obviously have to adjust your feet as you move closer to each ball but you will be surprised how solid you hit each ball. Its one continous swing dont stop until you hit the last ball.
