I was at the range last night working on a few things and now feel my swing is really coming together. I have a few areas which I was working on i.e. posture, grip and swing plane. Previously I was suffering from a bit of an out to in swing plane but seem to have relieved myself of it (for now).

I was wondering if you had any recommendations for easy to follow instructional reading. I have a david bedwetter book but would like to read something new. I have heard the modern fundemantals is a good one, are there any others which I should consider?

I have a four pack of lessons to use up with the local pro and looking to do this soon, so a bit of light reading in advance may help me go in with some queries/ something to work on in mind...

Thanks!

Slightly biased perhaps but Faldo's - Swing for Life is pretty good....Soren Hansen swears by it and his swing is solid!!!

I thought Hogan's Modern Fundaments was reasonably easy as he uses a lot of description of how things should feel.....much the same as Faldo.

Leadbetter tends to get too technical and mechanical for my tastes.

My choices would be the following, but read the end of this post first

1 A Swing For Life by Nick Faldo
2 Positive Practice By David Leadbetter
3 100% Golf by David Leadbetter
4 Swing Like A Pro by Dr Mann (Can be a little technical but it does explain well and it gives drills)
5 How I Play Golf by Tiger Woods (It pains me, but this book is quite a good easy read)

If you are going to take lessons don't read anything past the correct grip, setup & posture. Listen to the pro, practice all he tells you and give it until the end of the lessons before you read any more. You will only get different idea's in your head and the lessons won't help you any because you will try other ideas and they will work against what you are being taught. Only read a book if the pro recommends one to read along side his teachings.

These! (I'm too lazy)....

I agree Swing For Life is good - I refer to it every now and then...bargain £2.50 from charity shop

Written with Vivian Saunders ( possibly all by her).
Get a copy of Advanced Golf by her. Got to be one of the best books on instructional golf ever.
Just one quote from from chapter 5,Changing directions- Through the ball :-

'The problem for nearly all golfers is that instead of the arms dropping down, followed by a turn of the body, the easier and wrong movement is for the right side of the body to start turning first before the arms start their downswing movement. This invariably brings the club down in too steep an attack, for the longer-handicap player usually cutting across the ball'.

The book is full of useful insights of the golf swing

I think you will find that she co-wrote Golf: The Winning Formula with Nick Faldo, although I can't argue with you about her books on golf.

Thanks Gents.

Just purchased Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan books for a combined total including postage and packaging of £6.49.

Gotta love Amazon!
