Hi All

I now have my new TW9 60 degree wedge but it doesnt have much bounce on it.

Should I stick with my sand wedge with 12* of bounce in the sand or use my new wedge? I think my new wedge only has 6* bounce. Ill play about with it next time I get stuck in a bunker though :)

It depends on how deep your bunkers are (huge pot bunkers etc) and how much sand is in them. Go out and try it and see what happens. Nothing to lose. When I'm carrying my 56 and 60 degree wedges I'll tend to use the 60 if I've not got much green to work with but I'm not a great bunker player anyway and usually happy to find the green.

Cool
Thanks will do that, and at the moment im still on the junior courses (9 holf pitch and putt) so the bunker is more of a shallow sand pit :) hehe

Wedges work in the sand because of bounce. You increase (or activate) bounce by opening the club face.

I would use your sand wedge for nearly all greenside bunker shots. The lob wedge has a lot less bounce and will tend to dig in, rather than splash through the sand.

For 'claggy' or wet sand, its a different shot entirely. You may want to 'nip' the ball off the surface, in which case the lob wedge may be a better option.

I have to use a 60 at our club because the rubbish green keeper and commitee don't put enough sand in them so you often take more clay than sand....shocking

Any other club I go to I normally get away with a 56
