I guess I'm struggling to understand why it matters to you what happens. It's coming across as a little spiteful, did they wrong you personally?

This is the rules part of the forum so was looking for some rules advice and what other clubs have in place for the situation when someone has been suspended from a club

G1.4a of the EG Guidance starts with:
"To gain a WHS Handicap Index in GB&I a player must either join a Club affiliated to a National
Union or by affiliating directly with their National Union."

Does that necessarily mean that if you leave a club, even temporarily, I'm not sure. Certainly when players leave our club without joining a new one, then their handicap will no longer be valid for opens etc.

Only thing is when it comes to affiliation payments and if a club when they suspend someone’s membership do they stop paying for that suspension period

When someone goes on holding membership for example their HC is “withdrawn” but they can become Igolf members

I can only quote the old rules which were
When a player is suspended from a club they do not hold a handicap during the period of suspension.

I too would go along with - a player must be a member of a club (or authorised association) to hold an recognised handicap.

Yes, I kept thinking I was missing something.

Surely, if someone's membership is suspended - for whatever reason - he/she is no longer a club member and does not have a WHS handicap until he/she becomes a member of a club again. If a member voluntarily suspends membership for health/medical reasons, there is no guarantee that he/she will return to membership. In the case that has been raised, I can see no issue in the suspended member applying to be a member of iGolf or, for that matter, of any other club.

I have no knowledge of the sign up procedure for iGolf or the current WHS portal.
I think under the old system a person would have been flagged as having a suspended handicap.

Does iGolf do any check on previous clubs and possible EG Membership number?
I expect a new club would certainly ascertain previous handicap history and EG membership number.

A club can withdraw the handicap of any member at any time - they just need a good, defendable reason.

If a member has been suspended for a disciplinary issue at a golf club do you think their HC should be frozen to stop them entering Opens and also putting in GP cards etc

However to go any further, surely the full details and context are required unless it's just meant to be a straight question yes or no as to whether we think it should be or not.

Where I play appeals to County cost money (some one said £200). Where I play when I was handicap chairman we had two players appeal which was turned down in house by an independent doing the review of our decision. They were advised of their option to go to county but never did so.

It’s the same when it used to Annual Review

Appeal to Comp Committee first then County

We have seen one person appeal to county because they were cut 2 shots

When I ran the committee we had 5 members. 1 person was there just as an observer and did not take part in the review. He and another person with handicapping experience were then responsible for handling appeals.

One of the appeals was against a handicap increase because it stopped him from getting in to low handicap limited events.

Honestly it was difficult to keep a straight face.

His appeal was dismissed.
The guy was incredibly bombastic in all his written communications but as is often the case, when discussing the facts in the cold light of day, very different sitting in front of three reasonable people. There always tends to be a bit of a personality clash somewhere in the background when these things go a long way down the appeal process (we try to head them off as much as we can before they get that far).

I guess whether it is reasonable or not would depend on whether it was a golfing offense or another offense.
Having an affair with the captains wife probably not reasonable to withdraw a handicap. Wearing white ankle socks or cargo shorts on the course probably reasonable.
