Supporting your pro

My pro has joined Foremost and so uses the buying power to finally start stocking Ping, TM etc. I wish he'd be more adventurous than just Nike and Cally clothing but only a small gripe. He does me fantastic deals (FJ Icon myjoys for £155) and so I go to him all the time. He's got the R11's in at £499 and so it is cheaper than anything I've seen online and cheaper than AG so I think I'll be biting his hand off this weekend. I will always give him first refusal on anything major (not golf clothing) and if he can't or won't match I'll decide if the discrepancy is too big or if its worth the extra few quid for convenience. I should point out that if I spend a fair bit I usually get a sleeve of Pro V or something complimentary anyway which always leaves a nice taste in the mouth

We've just had a new pro join from the Crow's home course and I will be doing my bit to support him in his new enterprise. The shop has been refurbished and halved in floor area - looks more like the size of shop you would expect a club pro to have - the old one looked empty because it was so big.

There are notices up saying he will price match so from now on he will be my first port of call when I want new gear.

We have a pro at our club who uses the practice area for lesson's but no shop, it's a ballache at times when you need a new glove or balls etc and you've forgot to pick them up.

If he did have a shop then i would buy pretty much all my gear there as long as the price was fair.

Our pro will try his hardest to price match. I bought my irons from him this year and he matched the cheapest internet price and matched what Golfbidder would give me for my old irons.

I'd support my Pro if there was anything to support.

A few Callaway clubs - a couple of trial irons - shirts, balls, gloves etc etc all at RRP.
OK there's a sale on at the moment but there's nothing I need in the sale.
He's never there "working" the shop. If he's there he's either giving lessons - doesn't seem busy though - or playing with the "hierarchy" of the club, or drinking in the bar......
At my previous club I would always try to support the Pro because he acted like the Club Pro......

Too right I support my Pro.

He price matches and often goes below and gives great service.

It also makes a huge difference that he is a really nice young lad who is eager to help you out and that is why Daniel at The Hirsel get my business.
I agree Dodger the Hirsel is great! Great lad always willing to help and to make sure you are kitted out correctly.
Daniel is very friendly and i wouldnt buy anywhere else. The shop is immaculate and very well laid out.
Also Eyemouth has a great shop and Micheal looks after you with a great service and the best prices possible.
Some shops you go into and the pro just seems to not care whether you are wanting to buy or not!! One pro in particular but i wont go into names doesnt even get off his arse to help and his shop isnt to great either!!!
So go visit The Hirsel or Eyemouth shops if you want a great service, friendly atmosphere and the right prices.

I have bought all my equipment through my brother in law who is a pro. I only started at the end of summer & he's saved me a lot of money. I'll always use him. I just wish he lived closer so I could have my lessons with him too!

i always go to support my pro. He is with Foremost too and will generall price match or get very close. The fact that he is a good mate also helps like!

You would all support your pro, but everyone is following that with 'he price matches'

My question is, if your pro was more expensive than the internet, would you support him?

Lets say £130 instead of £100 and he cant match the £100 for a wedge or shoes or whatever...would you still pay the £30 extra to support the pro?

No.

However if he were to throw in a putting lesson or a short game half hour instead that would sway it.
