Was at a meeting on Thursday and was invited to their golf day at Sunningdale on Tuesday out of the blue! Very excited - the last of the good Surrey/Berks heathland courses that I haven't played - only slight negtive is that we are playing 28 holes so even if on different courses, will not have played all of one.

Has anyone got any idea which course we woud play 10 holes on - does 10 finish near the clubhouse on one of the courses?

Paul, the half way hut is at the 10th green on both courses and it is a fairly long walk from there to the clubhouse. Suspect they will have arranged some form of transport for you.
Having been there for the Open Qualifying last Monday, all I can say is "beware of the rough", it is penal! :) On a plus, the pros were saying the greens were the best they have seen so far this year, true and quick.

The Old is in my view, the best inland course in the UK. Enjoy it. It is fantastic and the 10th hole is my favourite hole of any I have ever played.

I'm playing there in August. Let me know if you want a second visit!

Have to admit Paul, Sunningdale is even better than my place ;)

On the 1 to 10 scale of jealousy I'm about a 23

Enjoy, it is fabulous.

Very subjective, and it all depends on how you define 'bast'.

However, THE VIEW form the 10th ranks as one of my 3 or 4 favourite views in golf - and certainly the best on an inland course.

Thanks Snelly - been waiting to play for ages but bulked at the price - the cost of next Tuesday is very appealing (big fat zero:) )- so if it goes to the top of my list - and it probably will - I may be up for another shot to see the other 8 holes! Can you PM the details?

Thanks Anthnoy - been checking the website and playing 10 on both courses looks a normal option - I am hoping it is 18 on the Old and the 10 on New - I have seen some photo tours and the latter part of New looks a bit tight and tree lined and needs a good chainsaw (years ago the whole place was a big open heathland) - although the par 5 on the front 9 - maybe 6 (?) and the par 3 before it look absolutely sublime - and this area has really benefitted from masive tree removal.

You know I am nice and straight so no need to be worred about a bit of rough!!:D:cool::fore:

Really looking forward to the tenth - nearly as much as the sausage sandwich to follow!:D View wise - it will take some doing to beat Hankley 7 or 8 - and although I know I will love it, I doubt it will top that

I played the New at the end of last summer and all I can say is that you are in for a treat!

The heather is the obvious problem and the further you get round the course the more heather the tee shot has to carry. I thought it a very fair course though and shot 84 on a course thats par is 72 and sss is 73 (if I remember correctly)

The clubhouse isnt too stuffy and the dress code was more relaxed than even at my place

Paul - you'll love it mate!

Paul, This is the view from the 10th tee on the Old course, the halfway hut is just visible behind the green :)

Erm.......Queenwood.........and erm........Bearwood Lakes......and erm........that's about it in the south ;)

TXL....great pic of the 10th tee but I would argue the view from the 5th tee is even better looking down on the pond?

Gordon - name the date and Bearwood is sorted - can't help you on Queenwood - although the overall experience is better than the course - although it is not to shabby!

Cheers Paul, are we still aiming for back end of August?

i thought Cameron had banned all financier/bankers freebies from today onwards, and that anyone holding any such freebie has to donate it to the closest pleb to the holder. :)

Enjoy :)

Sunningdale is in my top 3 of all time courses. I'd love another crack at either course but the price is the prohibitive factor. Enjoy the day out you lucky old so and so especially at the princley sum of nada, zilch and not very much
