Sunglasses

I had reactor lenses once. Never again. You never get to see the world in it's full colourful glory, lit with wonderful yellow sunlight.

My advice would be that unless you really need them, ie sunlight gives you headaches or something, then don't have sunglasses. You really will be missing out.

The names are silly but irrelevant. Really they just have a few different frame designs, and each frame comes in all colours and all lenses, so you just find the combination you want and order them.
Sadly the Three parts tee one I like is out of stock ☹️

Sadly, too much sunlight can give you cataracts. I’ll stick with sunglasses.

Can someone post a link please
Paulmdj may be able to help as he was on about their shop at Seaham golf course .
There website isn't very good , but if you message them on Facebook they normally get back to you very quickly . Sorry I don't have a link , but someone may be able to help .

Can't comment about these but if you want to splash a bit, get a pair of the Oakley sunglasses with the golf, prizm, lenses. I have the XL halfjacket from a sale a good few years ago. Brilliant golf glasses. They don't move, they take the edge off the sun but don't dull things. You can start with them on the 1st in bright sunshine and then remove them after the round and discover it has gone cloudy. You wont have realised. No issue with reading greens.
It appears I’m revisiting this thread after an eye test today as was due one through work and paid extra for the scan they do. Turns out I have freckles inside my eye along with stigmatism shape causing me to be a quite light sensitive. The kind lady recommended I always wear sunglasses when outside even in low light, no need for prescription just decent light sensitive lenses. I have good quality Sunnies I can wear every day but I wouldn’t wear them on the golf course.

All the ones in SpecSavers were either crap, feminine or no good for sports . So here I am back seeking the wisdom of the forum. Been online all evening looking and I can’t find anything that seems as good that also has the ability to change lenses for different times of year. So I’ve got some questions if you don’t mind.

The Oakleys you have are they the Half Jacket or the Flak Jacket? Do they fit under a hat ok?

My other question is do you have the Prizm Golf lenses? If so what are they like?

There used to be a sunglasses hut store in gun wharf and they stock Oakley which might be better to try on

It’s still there and going in store was my initial thought, there’s one in Reading and Guildford as well which are closer. But a quick look online shows neither of those nor Gun Wharf hold stock of the Flak or Half jackets with the required lenses nor do they do in store collection. So seems pretty pointless to drive to one of them to try them on to have to come back home and order them to be delivered anyway.

Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 XL.

No issue under a hat. I get sunstroke very easily, burn quickly where my hair used to be 😢, and so wear a hat a lot in summer both playing golf and walking around generally. Never been a problem.

Mine were classed as golf lenses but then rebranded as prizm golf lenses shortly after. I was told by Oakley that they are the same.

They are superb. For the last x number of years I've been wearing these for golf, for driving, for holidays, the works. They cope in all sunlight. You can change lenses very easily for stronger shading but I've stopped doing that now. I used to do it on summer holidays abroad but then decided it was unnecessary. I bought the spare lenses from a company called Revant via Amazon if you wanted to do that. They are their own lenses, not Oakley (much cheaper but perfectly okay for what I needed)

The real cleverness of the lenses are the amount of light they let through and the spectrum of light. They don't really darken what you see, they take the glare or sharpness away. They let more light through than most glasses, deliberately. It's the harsh light they stop. They are designed for golf and so show greens really well, no matter the light.

As mentioned in a previous post, you can start in bright sunshine, finish in gloom. If you have your glasses on you won't realise everywhere has gone darker until you take them off. Very clever.

Agree all this.
I also have a pair for cycling which are slightly bigger frame.

I did post in this thread before that I didn’t want to spend that much on Sunnies just for golf but, from what you’ve described there sounds exactly like what I need and coincides with what the optician said yesterday.

Looks like I will have to do some more googling and online shopping. When we get back from the cinema later.

If you were where you come from, I could have let you try mine ;)

I have to wear sunglasses in even remotely sunny weather having had vitrectomy surgery and then cataract procedures in both eyes.

Just bought some really nice Oakley bins which I will save for golf. I’m hoping if I look like Stenson, I may start to play like him.
