Looking to go on a golfing weekend in the Cheshire/Lancs/Merseyside area with a friend of mine.

He is a "play once every 3 months" hacker who generally shoot 120-130 and I am not much better at the moment (around the 100 mark) so looking for courses that

a/we are allowed to play and b/ that aren't so long/difficult we don't enjoy it.

Not overly bothered by the hotel etc as long as there is a bar.

Any recommendations?

Check out the review for Mcdonald portal hotel in the review section, one punter was happy.

Have a look at Mytton fold, it's a best western hotel with 18 hole course. Nearby is clitheroe wilpshire whalley golf clubs. Worth a gander!
Clitheroe may be a little posh for 'hackers' but I know there's plenty of member hackers at Mytton, I play there, they have one night package including breakfast a round of golf and I night stay from £72.50! Buggies available. The course is nice and the scenery is awesome!

Me. The course is fantastic although maybe some holes may be too long but its a very forgiving course ie not a mass of trees to get stuck behind and the fairways are in brilliant condition. The hotel is great too.

played Wychwood park the other day , decent course , bit corporate , the food is bloody lovely
89 quid 2 rounds DBB

p.s Dont go in the rough its brutal at times
