Suggestion for an England golf weekend in mid December

Princes, Kent. You'll come of the course cleaner than you went on in December. Think they have a one night, two round, dinner, bed and breakfast deal on at the moment. £109

I already been to Kent this Summer, I didn't play Princes but I would like to change part this time (even though I had a great time)

We are arranging a meet in December at Royal Cinque Ports and a lot of the guys are staying overnight and playing Littlestone, Princes and Walmer and Kingsdown - they are all decent courses but I prefer the Littlestone course to the other two. Alongside Princes and Royal Cinque Ports is Royal St Georges and they will all do deals in the winter and the second two have/ do host The Open.

Nice! Will tell this as well!

I played Littlestone this Summer, what a fun course! I hit 3w at the 17th and came up short :D

My 3 friends are in England and they asked me if I wanted to join them for a weekend, I know it's not the best time to go in the UK to play :)

fair enough if you are going to be here anyway, just though you were coming esp for that!!!

we get Americans turn up, up here and then wonder why the course is not in great shape and on matts;)

Links then heathland are your best bets over winter.

Get down to Saunton, probably one of the best climates over winter. Two courses rated in the GM top 100, and you can get great winter deals. Also Royal North Devon just up the road, another top 100 course. You can play there with 2 fore 1 vouchers. If you stay in the Saunton sands hotel, you will get some good late deals, and you get 10% off Saunton golf rates.

I can only agree with this. I used to come here 5/6 years ago with friends and do just that (we used to play Burnham & Berrow on the way down too). Now I have been lucky enough to buy a cottage in Braunton for hols etc and now am a Country member at Saunton. Its even better than I remember!

So, my friends went (I couldn't make it) and played Formby and West Lancs. They found very good weather on the first one and rain on the second day.
Overall they liked it a lot, so thanks very much for all you suggestions!! :)

No probs, glad they enjoyed it. Formby is great and West Lancs is tough.

Saunton is a good shout , also try Princess in kent , got lodges there on the course .............Links is the way to go

As others have said, a links course is the place to be.
I've played East Brighton after the most horrendous rain imaginable and walked off with shoes as clean as when you started.
Most parkland courses are going to be like quagmires. No fun in sloshing around in the mud, hitting everything fat, getting zero run on any drives, (or worst of all plugging in the fairway), and coming back in plastered in it.
The only drawback with Links golf is that it's likely to be a bit windy. But I'd rather put up with a bit of wind than mud.
