Subs renewal notice arrived today..................

ive played both boat of garten and the speyside, two of the best courses ive ever played! Hoping to get back up in the summer, absolute crackers!
On the other subject, my fees are £470 per year at my course, which i think is great value.Ours is roughly 6000yds long, with some cracking holes.

£460 a year for me. A cracking wee 18 hole course with some fantastic views and is normally in great condition and on big greens throughout the year.

£504 for 5 day membership here. Not too bad considering the course but I do look with envious glances up North when a better course costs almost half what I'm paying. Some of the better courses hereabouts are well over 1k.

Its mainly because most Scottish courses are council owned and the fact its a no class system game rather than a snobbish middle class game in the south of England the reason of cost.

...... most Scottish courses are council owned.......

I'm sure that statement is about as accurate as saying that most people in England wear bowler hats. :) :D ;)

This has been pointed out to you before, no they are not. I pay £535 at my place for full course 95% of the year so cant grumble.

Hey guys

The course I just left was £733 for subs only locker and bar levy on top, nearer £800. This was no where near the most expensive course around. I now play at a council run course and it is going to cost almost £500 for my green fees and club membership, for the privelage I get to play from winter tee's and greens most of the off season (Nov-Feb).

Oh the joy's of a Glasgow postcode.

Thats good Value DelB.

Noticed your sig does not have Swanston in it. Have you given up your membership there? I am sure all the loose change now in your pocket would vanish quickly having to pay for Swanston's new clubhouse and nine holes

Hi Stuart.

Yes, resigning my membership up there this season. Big hike in subs and I just don't feel the layout and quality of the course justifies the fees being asked. In any event, I think Gifford is a better course and it's virtually nae money at all.

Nairn is only about £400 as is Royal Dornoch.

For Tain,I pay £395 thats with £30 bar levy,locker,SGU fee and insurance. We also get reciprocal for £10 per round at;
Brora
Golspie
Royal Dornoch
Alness
Invergordon
Strathpeffer
Muir of Ord
Fortrose & Rosemarkie

all 18 holers and Bonarbridge, Tarbut 9 holes.

When i lived in hertfordshire i paid £900!!! ;)

Don't think any of these belong to the council!
